I have an Epson Stylus C80 inkjet printer. I have not used it in awhile (due to the costs of ink). Recently I needed to use it. It would not print. When attempting to print, the print head moves several times across the page and then a blank page rolls out. Same thing happens with test patterns for head cleaning and alignment. If I try to look up the amount of ink in my new cartriges (arrgh cost a lot), it says communication error (but doesn't say that any other time). Tried installing the printer on another computer with same result. Have no idea what is going on. Originally on Dell Dimension 8200 desktop (Pentium 4 2.2, 1 GB ram, WIndows XP SP2), also tried on Gateway M520CS laptop (Celeron 1.4 i think, 512 ram, Windows XP)
right now it sounds like the ink jets are clogged as it does the motion but not the action. take the print head out & sit it on a fairly damp paper towel in an old bowl or plate & leave it for a few hours to unclog the jets. also how much ink are in the cartridges?? possible to refill the cartridges on your own with refill kits.
I was wondering, how would I go about doing that? Is there some kind of reference material to look at for that? Thanks.
wow...i've run into the exact same problem tonight with my Epson CX4600. there doesn't appear to be anyway to get the heads out of this printer, either. the cradle is moving, and the cartridges are full. any ideas? what i wouldn't give for some damn exposed screws...
