I am trying to back up my DVD collection, and I am using MainConcept MPEG Encoder 1.4.2 to convert the .mpg file into a DVD MPEG.

    the output format choosen was:-

    MPEG type - DVD
    Stream Type - Program (Video+Audio)
    Video Mode - PAL
    Audio Mode - Layer 2

The estermated file size is between 4100 M and 4200 M

Motion search pixel movement is enabled, hoz and vert set to 5

My problem is that my PC keeps re-booting half way through the convertion, never at the same place and with more that one film.

My pc is WinXP SP1 512 Mb ram and plenty on HD space.

    any help please

    D.

I don't think that Main concept encoder is the problem. Check ur PC for viruses and spyware/adware. Also check that ur settings eg. sleep mode etc.

I have checked that I have no viruses and spyware.

    Closed down all non-essential programs.

    Disconnected from broadband

I have also tried to sent the output file to a second hard drive.

Although my PC keeps rebooting half way through the convertion. Not always in the same place and it has happerned on two or three different movies.

or are there any other types of programs I could try that will do that same job as MainConcept.

Any more thought would be truly greatful.

    overheating CPU can cause this.
