i switched from imation dvds to verbatim lightscribe dvds.. havent had another skip or freeze problem. only place that has them around here is walmart and they only come in a 10 pack.. thanks for the advice everyone.
@wrege Your welcome! Any problems you know where to go! Lots of useful info here. Stick with the good stuff it cuts down on errors. Here's some online site to try for media: http://supermediastore.com/ http://rima.com/ http://meritline.com/ http://newegg.com/
Daver............. and you then go on to say you contradicted yourself cause those Memorex disks sure did give you problems with skipping and I guarantee you won't have those skipping, freezing, or pixelation problems with better media, like Verbatim, Taiyo Yuden, Maxell, or Sony disks! also what I mean about Booktyping your DVD writer as a DVD-ROM, if you can do that to your writer, you will have a more acceptable disk that will work on MOST DVD players (standalones or computer). You misunderstood what was said..... I wasn't talking about your DVD-ROM drive that you said so........ if you can booktype/bitset your writer that uses DVD+R/RWs to DVD-ROMs then your writeable disks will be more acceptable to MOST DVD players!
You guys are going to think i'm an idiot, but I,ve used cheap media such as teon and even staples dvd-r's for well over a year and rarely have a problem.
club42, no one thinks you are an idiot. We have all had our run-ins with cheap media. The thing with bad media is, 6 months down the road, can you copy it, a year from now will it even play? I did alot of backups when I first started out, most on memorex. Now, I have a bunch of backups, two years or so later that are so degraded they won't copy. Most still play fine but are unreadable to copy. Cheap media may seem fine at first, but trust me, somewhere down the road you'll end up regretting using them.
Your are right about that one. They all work right off the bat but I have had a few that didn't work months down the road. The lifetime warrenty's on the things are a joke.
IHoe---- yeah i did. but i meant like a really big issue where i wouldn't be able to burn the dvd or it wouldn't even work at all, just because of the disc. but yeah, like i said, i'll be checking out those other dics. about the dvd-rom issue, i was just pointing out that the dvd-rom i use is weak. when i tried to analyze 'Ong Bak: The Thai Warrior' with DVD Shrink, it would freeze at 51%. then i did the same thing with my dvd-r drive, it went through with no problem. other than that..how the hell do you booktype your dvd-/+r/RWs to DVD-ROM?? and lucky for me i just ran out of memorex dvd-rs..so im gonna go pick up some new QUALITY DVD-Rs. haha. thanks everyone..
cveman Welcome! This thread is actually about copying crash but we've gotten a little off topic. For booksetting check out #12 in this link: http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/183136 Any questions post back in the dvd +- r for newbies/advanced users.
Crash was actually one of the first DVDs I copied. And it was fine. And since we're on the subject of Crash...How great is that movie!
Crash was No Problem using AnyDVD & CloneDVD 2. Also Sony DVD+R Made in Japan media.MID Taiyo Yuden made! Great Movie too!
I backed up crash with dvd Decrypter with dvd shrink and everything worked fine. And I use that with Sony dvd+r's and all i do is change the booktyping on my lite-on to help it play in my standalone DVD Player.
