    Hey,

I have a second computer that has an 80gb hdd with windows XP Home on it and another 10gb hdd that has nothing on it. Anyway, i want to install ubuntu on the 10gb hdd just to play around with, but in the middle of the installing, when i get to the partitioning stage i get the error message -
"The attempt to mount a file system with type ext3 in IDE1 slave, partition #1 (hdb1) at / failed"

Does anyone have a way to fix this?
(I'm trying to get it setup so i can choose either windows or linux)

    Thanks, alien13

You need to make sure that you have your second HDD as master

Try a low level format then, that might do the trick.
