Hi I need help please, I am trying to contect 2 computers via networking.
What I have done, and what i have is new network cable, 2 network cards which i have contected the cable. Both computers say the cards are working OK, but when i try to contect them I get told that the cable is unpluged, which is not true, I have been told by a friend to ping the other compter from dos, he said type ping, space then all, having done this it comes back and says it can't find anything.
I am pulling my hair out as to what do i do now, please help.

If you are connecting the two PCs directly together with no router, you need to use a cross-over cable. A standard ethernet cable will not work. Stop by your local PC shop and pick up a cross-over cable and you will be good to go.
