sup sup, I have been trying to rip my mini-DVDs using Mac the Ripper and the program has been qutting on me prior to ripping. I have had no problems ripping my bought DVDs and backing them up, the program seems to work perfectly that way. Anyone have any ideas as to why this might be happening? Or does anyone have any alternatives for me? My goal is to burn the footage to a DVD, preferably burn several 1.2 gig disks on to one 4.7g. Which I would probably need advice on that as well. I have DVD2OneX ready to go if thats what I need. Thanks!
it should be fine to use Dvd2OneX for the joining of all these. are those mini-dvds in regular format? do they have the same structure? (VIDEO_TS & AUDIO_TS)? if they aren't in that, then you can't use mac the ripper. but you say it starts, then it may just be the disc itself. is it quality media? and is it even encrypted? if not.. then you should just be able to make an image from it. or you should be able to copy onto the desktop.
lox, They are Sony mini disk dvd-r. They do contain VIDEO_TS files in them. When I try to copy them to hard drive I get an error message about the .VOB file. I am not sure if it is encrypted, I do "Finalize" the disks once I have filled it so that it can play in the DVD player and computer. Mac the Ripper has been recognizing them. It will say SONY DISK (or something very close to that, sorry can’t verify that atm). When I try to do a full disk extraction it just quits, no error message, nothing, just gone. thnx for the info. I have tried a bunch of things to no avail. any more ideas will be greatly appreciated.
sup sup, I have an update: The mini-DVD is recognized as SONY_MOBILE by Mac the Ripper. When you check Mac the Ripper Preferences and select the Pre Scan, 2 error mesages pop up: READ ERROR -Can't open VMG info I/O ERROR -Can't Read DVD Title Set Info Then Mac the Ripper will quit. I hope this helps, thanks.
sup sup, mission accomplished. I finaly figured out how to do what I wanted: Shame on me, but I was unaware of Disk Utilitie's ability to copy DVDs. I was able to make a copy of the mini-DVD and using the DVD/CD master option I created a .cdr image of the disk. Then using the "Join" feture of DVD2OneX it was ready to burn no problems. I guess the mini-DVDs do not get encrypted during the finalization process and therefore Mac the Ripper can't help. thanks for the help: thelox714 Jaydeeell hope this helps you out
ok this is just getting crazy. now disk utility wont make an image of my non-Sony brand disks; gives me an input/ouput error mesage. why does this have to be so complicated
