    I know with Nero you make sure you choose cd or dvd burning and the correct drive if you have it set in cdr it will not burn dvdr

    Too many people with too many ideas of what's wrong add to the confusion. I can see where you would get frustrated and confused. But it took me about 3 times asking just to find out you were using Nero Express to burn with. That program gives you options for Data, and Video as well as File and Image burning options. You still won't tell me how large the hard drive is and how much free space you have available. I had to get everything else from the infotool log. Did you run Search to see if you could find nerohistory logs? No, at least you didn't mention it. Maybe it's something with the laptop, I can't see so many programs not working without user error or something wrong with the system. If some order is followed and a little bit of deductive reasoning used (process of elimination), the source of the problem can usually be found. So far there's been about 2 pages of spinning your wheels.

    Do the following burn attempt and see how it works and then we can go through the question and answer sequence if necessary. A few questions have already been answered. I'd still like to know about the hard drive and free space.

    Use the DVDFab Decrypter files from the hard drive. You've done all that, so you know how it goes. Don't run AnyDVD or anything else in the background. Hopefully you didn't have AnyDVD on when running DVDFab Decrypter. In the DVD Shrink Backup settings select your burner drive under Burn with Nero:

    [IMG]

    Put a recordable DVD in the DVD burner and let the drive recognize it before continuing. A DVD RW would save you from wasting a disc if it doesn't work. Then start the transcoding with Shrink. After transcoding Shrink will automatically try to burn the files using the Nero Burning ROM. That will eliminate the need to burn manually with Nero Express. Let me know how it goes and that search for nerohistory.

    ok as of right now my hardrive has a total capacity of 55.8GB. Being used presently is 37.6GB and free space is 18.2GB I plan on cleaning things up a bit. Im gonna get rid of everything but dvd shrink, nero, and dvd decrypter. I will get back to you tomorrow with the burn attempt because I got to pick up a different burner again. But thanks for the patients and help, as well as screenshots. I'll let you know,
    Thanks
    P.S. Just did a search again for nerohistory came up blank.

    Did you do the XP Search or just look in the Nero folder? The first time I looked for it I overlooked it. When I ran Search, there it was. But we'll not worry about it at this point.
    A rule of thumb is to have twice the amount of HD space as the Source size. You're just over the safe limit, but not by much. You don't want to delete your ripper software, otherwise what will you use. Shrink and DVD Decrypter by themselves are obslolete when it comes to new copy protections. They will do a bunch, but the difficult ones they can't. Since you're keeping Shrink and Decrypter, I suggest you use RipIt4Me along with it. Use the installer and not the zip files. I'll repeat to add emphasis, use the INSTALLER. Then use the 1-Click mode. http://www.ripit4me.org It's a top decryption tool and it's a small program. It uses DVD Decrypter and Shrink along with FixVTS (installed by the installer) to do a better decryption job than most retail programs. The files open in Shrink automatically from 1-Click, with burn with Nero and your drive selected Nero is on auto. If it fails then, we can look somewhere besides user interface. Once you try it this way, if it fails, we'll look for the nerohistory file again. ;)

    Hey, same thing, gets to the burning and just spins in the diskdrive doesn't show anyprogress and goes into not responding. I use a usb 2.0 port through a pcmcia card and i was talking to a friend and he said possibly switing the output to 2.0 as well as the input? Idk if that makes sense. Oh and I did a windows search for nerohistory as well as a manual one in the folder. Still nothing!

    Then Nero isn't working properly if you aren't getting logs. No idea if the same Nero problems are effecting burns. You need to get with customer support and see what's happening. The log function is for such problems as this. I have Nero 7 and I get my logs. Normally deleting, using the Nero clean tool and reloading takes care of corrupted files. Is this a full function retail program or an OEM you got with your hardware?

    Do as your friend suggested and hook to the 2.0 USB port on the PC. Sometimes the transfer method makes a difference.

    Plug the burner in a desktop or someone's laptop to see if it's the burner or the program

    If I remember correctly more than one drive has been used with the same problem. Not a bad idea to cross check, but more than one drive and a different brand sort of indicates it's probably not the drive. If I'd known it was hooked by a card, I would have suggested hooking direct to a USB port. That's the problem trying to diagnose online, you can't see all the little things that have been done that might effect the problem.

    I have the same problem with Nero. Exactly. I'm using Nero 7 with a Sony DRU800A burner. I use Sony DVD-r Media. I get to 3% and it times out with a disc failure. Here is a log;
