Hi, I just bought a Benq Ew1621 external dvd burner. I installed it fine and the store clerk said I should be able to back up my movies in under an hour. Even burning avi files through nero take 11 hours, including 2 and a half hours burning time. Backing up dvds take 6 hours. I have USB 1.0, but that shoudlnt be a problem, Windows second edition and I'm not sure about anything else. If you have any ideas about what may be wrong just tell me. Also, if you have any questions, just ask.

Maybe you should upgrqde to a USB 2 port since USB 1.1 is very slow.

USB2 transfers data 40 odd times faster than USB1. That is the crux of your problem. To transfer 6 or 7 gig will take forever on USB1.

to boredstif-you need a good dvd copy program like 1-click dvd copy and anydvd.these two programs working together is excellent for copying dvds.1-click ,shrink copy and burn.anydvd removes the copyright protection and allow 1-click to shrink, copy and burn.
