I did Fun with D&J using Xcopy Platinum with AnyDVD behind it in simple mode, and the movie came out fine.
@FredBurn I still use DVD Xpress Copy with AnyDVD once in a while to see if it still works. It does. Has to be the all-time easiest DVD back up. Quality wise I don't think so. Do you use the proggy 321Gone to remove the annoying FBI stuff and the Watermark, Xpress puts on the DVD.
Watching a minute or 2 of fbi crap etc. from having to use all those complicated configurations on so many of those programs you bet it wont bother me to watch it, besides I just go to the fridge and pull out a brewski.
I have been using DVD Remake to redo all my old 321 backups, so I can edit out the nag screen and not have to re-encode with another program. So far it has been working out well. Just rerip to HDD blank out the 321 and warnings, remake it and burn. No more nag. They needed redoing anyway, some of them were on bad media. Vobblanker will do the same thing.
@ arniebear is it hard to remove that backup title on the 321 studios? i owen the originals but they have some small problem playin , is it better to rent the movie? legaly i can do this because i owen the original ? i just dont like the backup sign as it doesnt start normal.
No you can use the free VobBlanker, just put your disk in your drive it is already unprotected and the right size. Open VobBlanker and browse to your disk in the drive choose then choose an output directory, make sure you add a sub folder of VIDEO_TS it makes things easier. You will see the 321 screen in the preview, choose skip and then process. It will be gone. I know what you mean about the pause my one player can't get past it.
arniebear I wish I was capable of doing thse kinds of things but I'm not, thanks for the info anyway I highly appeciate it, as for gus, sorry to hear about your problems with 321, I must be lucky, I still watch movies I burned with them from 5 years ago when I first purchased it with no problem, of course I dont use 321 that often anymore because of the extra crap put on movies especially sony uses, but everyonce in a while it still does the trick even when all the others fail, e.g. fun with dick and jane, and again those extra warnings or copyied by 321 never bother me anyway, what does bother me is all those other programs out there that need so much work and figuring, no thank you, I avoid them like the plague, case in point, just read one of the gentlemens way of cracking it, you have to scroll down for 2 minutes to read, cant even imagine how long it would take to figure out, nope, I like the one click burn now method anyday. For computer dummies like me, its a Godsend.
i burned Dick ^ Jane useing dvdfabdecrypter and dvdshrink no problem. i honestly think i could have just used dvd shrink and it would have been fine.
Actually, I upgraded my version of Nero (to 6.6.0.18), and after that it burned just fine with the Ricoh media. BTW, my burner is a Pioneer DVR-110D, and the firmware is up to date.
Glad to see you didn't update to the 6.6.1.4. That one has been a problem for a lot of users. The reason I asked about the burner, some manufacturers release updates, even for the new drives. HP just updated the new 840i in March as well as the older 740i. I updated my new Plex shortly after installation. So, firmware version is one of those things that often get questioned as it addresses media supported and write strategies for the media. Nero doesn't do the updates just for fun. Users should keep the software updated. With Nero though, it's a good idea to keep the installation files for the last stable version in case the new update causes problems. That's the situation with the 6.6.1.4. However, the newer version obviously solved the problem you had with the older one. That or your files were corrupted and the new install cured the problem. Either way, you should be using the version you chose. Good job. BTW, glad to see Ricoh is still among the "good stuff".
Well, Narnia I had trouble with, but Kong backed right up on DVDShrink, with no decrypting programs needed.
Top of page 11: As for Narnia, most of the decryption software that still has support will take care of the copyright protection.
how can you tell if a movie has more copy protection than others? other than just trying to rip without trying to decrypt first? this site is to awsome. i have learned so much from here that sometime i answer my own questions before i can post them in here. i thank everyone here that is a big help to slow guys like myself. but i am learning and have helped out a few along the way.
brobear, with all your info you remind me of the NET Movie....Wish I had all your knowledge about this stuff.....tks for all the help....

LOL "Me too!" How many times have I heard that now? We need someone to count successes and failures so we can make a competition of it. So far now, I suspect copyright protection is losing.
You're starting to sound like me. LOL I said the same thing in another thread using almost the exact words. "Ridiculously easy" definitely describes the copyright protection on the region 1 King Kong release. I suspect I even mentioned something about easy, Shrink and King Kong in this thread. I'm sure I wasn't the first to comment on it either.
