Has anyone had any problems with 'the notebook'? I can copy the fullscreen side of the dvd that has no special features; however, I cannot copy the widescreen side with special features. I've tried Shrink, Decrypter, XCopy. Have tried all those with AnyDVD running and not running. Have tried with DVDIdlePro running or not running. Everything always 'freezes' when it gets about 89% of the movie copied.

have you tried decrypting it first and then sending it to shrink?

Do you mean like make an iso file, then open that with shrink? Decrypter won't do it under any mode. Freezes when it's almost finished every time.

    hi there

Try ripping with dvd decypter in ISO read mode, if you get a problem ripping then run anyDVD in the background from system tray to aid the rip that dvd decrypter is struggling on.

then load the ISO to Dvd Shrink to compress / reauthor etc..

also set shrink to output the file to dvd decypter to burn. you will see this when you click the backup button after you finished taking bits out or adding bits in etc...

i consider that method a last resort since its so time consuming. what i did to back the notebook was shrinking it and burning it with decrypter. (widescreen version). im guessing you have a program running in the background. press control+alt+delete and hit Processes and click on CPU (twice)until the highest one is showing. Compare that to the total CPU usage. The system idle process doesn't count. If your CPU usage is not to high--staying less than 10, then you might have to shut down all programs non Microsoft under the msconfig area of your computer.

So, would you mind telling me exactly what mode and any special settings to use with decrypter, then I'll do it again, with anyDVD running in the background, and then let you see the log if/when it freezes again? Barry

    hi

if you have changed settings click the button to default them back to install settings!

try rip in ISO and then try FILE (the whole film)

    with and without anydvd running!

also where is the error all that looks ok did it just stop there?

what region is the disc? set dvd decrypter to that region disc you are ripping!

all this said you do have plenty of hard drive space like 20 gig?

The disc is region one. Doesn't anyDVD remove the region code or make it region-free? Just asking, I don't know. The error window that pops up says:
    I/O Error
    ScsiStatus 0 X 02
    Interpretation - check condition
    CDB: 28 00 00 36 95 50 00 00 01 00
    Interpretation: Read (10) - Sector 35 77168
    Sense area
(then there's some mega long number)
    Interpretation: No seek complete
