    hi all.

the problem just started when In the house of some friend I burned 2 cds... and I came home and my internal drive SH-w162C do not detect disks.. it says that theres no one into the drive..

so I thought that The cds are badly burned... so I asked him for the original cds... and I came home..

AND My cd drive told me exactly the same...

so I tried to reinstall the dvd drive again... hoping to works and.. surprise it cant read the samsung install cd... what a mess...

so I downloaded firmware update, not working...

So I thinked and I tried to read a DVD, and It readss!!!
so i tried with a dvd-r again.. suceeded!

so the problem is with cds... any idea of whats going on?

thank you for helping me :)

If you wish, try uninstalling the drive and let Windows detect it.
My Computer > Properties > Hardware > Device Manager > Click on CD/DVD Drives.
Right click on the drive and 'uninstall' then reboot.

If you ran in safe mode, that would eliminate any chance that some software was causing the problem.
And running Nero Info Tool to check to see if the firmware was indicating the capabilities of the drive as to CD functions.

    Good luck.

Unless you can try the burner in another machine or borrow a burner, then you are going to have to spring for a new one.

    Good luck.
