Does all DVD (digital media) have progressive scan capabilities? Is it just a DVD player option, or is it implemented on the DVD disc. Will the old movies play progressive scan mode because it's in digital format? I'm about to get a player and was wondering if my old "backup" movies will play. Is it possible to rip this option out of the disc?

Progressive Scan is a hardware implemented function. The disc is like a pizza, you throw stuff on it. What format are your "old backup" movies comprised of?

They are exact copies or ripped from ifoEdit, so the picture quality is exactly the same. So the progressive scan player will be able to convert the output with old(when ever dvd's first came out) media?
    Thanks!!
