Is there a process or program, other than playing & watching, to check the quality of burns or the state of a burner? If I make a copy on good media & it doesn't play in some players like the original DVD how can I tell if it's a burner malfunction or software problem?
My first guess is a burner problem since it is low end & it's done a lot of burns over a year. But I've also noticed how some video programs don't like to be on the same computer & will interact. With a certain combination of programs on the PC, including Nero & Premier, I wasn't able to burn with DVD Decripter. To get things to generally work the way I like, Nero is not part of the mixture anymore. This is on a P4 , 2.6GHz based computer with XP Pro & 512M RAM & 20G hard drive free.

    Thanks, J.

Nero Tools has a Disc Quality Check. That will show you how your burn turned out.
