I've decided to transfer my old VHS-material to digital format and I've a chance to get a Conceptronic TV-card (http://www.conceptronic.net/site/DesktopDefault.aspx?tabindex=1&tabid=200&Cat=20&grp=2010&Prod_ID=767&Prod=CTVFMi&st=2) quite cheap but I'm a bit sceptical. If someone has experience of that card I would like to know the quality of the captured material and also what's the output format.

    It's got a Conexant BT878 chip (a good one!).
It will capture in any format you want, avi (with any codec on your computer) and mpeg 1/2.
There are some excellent 3rd party drivers (free) and software (much of it free) that work with this card.
If it's less than $30 US, it's a good deal.
Not sure what software comes with it, but bundled stuff usually sucks.
Beware that you need a good (1ghz or faster) computer, and it really helps to have a second hard drive to capture video onto.
