Question about firmware

    ok i have a pioneer 106 and have burned 300 dvds with only 2 coasters and was wondering should i upgrade my firm ware or let a good thing stay. also the firmware is what came with it.

    If it ain't broken - don't fix it.

    Have had a Pioneer 106 for approx 14 months - nearly 1000 burns - 99% plus success rate - original firmware.

    The only problem I had when I got my 106 was very slow rip speed from it being locked at 2x. I took a chance and upgraded to a hacked firmware from the rpc1 site. My rip speed when up over 12x with the firmwar upgrade. Its a chance you take but I'm happy.

    To echo what colw said, I haven't upgraded the firmware on my nec 3500 from the 2.16 it came with(two updates have been release since). It burns flawlessly even at 16x.
