Depends - you may have more apps in Nero with Essentials then you do in the oem suite so you might be better off with Essentials.

Nero 7 has a few more bells and whistles then Nero 6 - like Vision has animated menus, you can access different tools now within some of the apps of Nero like erase disc & disc info. You can set the option to show the 'true' burn speed etc.

I use both 6 & 7 - the latest version of each and each is good.
Give Essentials a go and see if you like it - you can always go back to Nero 6.

    Not a problem redice :)

Forgot to add b/4 - if you give Essentials a go do a clean install - uninstall 6 - run the clean tool.
Then I'd reboot - run a registry cleaner like the free ccleaner (use the issues & cleaner options).
Download the latest version of 7 - 7.8.5.0.
When you get to the serial # part of the install input your serial # from Essentials.

Any problems just let us know.

ok binkie7 but the nero 7 essentials that i have is on a disc. so i take it that when i put the cd in to install it the serial number will be enter by its self.

    Yep it will be.
Some install discs have the serial # right on the paper sleeve.
That's a + cause then you can just download the latest version and plug in the serial instead of installing from the cd and updating if not the latest.

edit: hit reply to fast :)

does Nero 7 essentials about you to burn to more than one burner like in nero 6?

That's a good question - I use the full version of 7 and it does.
The oem versions don't have this option though.

I'm not 100% sure on what apps Nero Essential includes - you can help me with that :)

In burning rom under the burn tab is the option 'use multiple recorders' listed?

    Welcome to aD
To get the help you need start a new thread for your problem - (hint: forum rules) plus way off topic on this.
The error can be caused by a few things so post the Nero log too and we can try & sort it out for you.

nero 7 essentials only has the following programs:
    Nero Home (Essentials SE)
    - Nero Scout Nero Start Smart 3 (Essentials)
    - Nero Express 7 (Essentials)
    - Nero Vision 4 (Essentials SE)
    - Nero ShowTime 2 (Essentials)
    - Nero Media Home (Essentials)
    - InCD 5 (Essentials)
    - Nero PhotShow Express 4 Nero PhotoSnap (Essentials SE)
    - Nero PhotoSnap Viewer (Essentials)
    - Nero Cover Designer 2(Essentials)
    - Nero ToolKit

so with that being said i would need the full version with the burning rom but i do not have that one i only have nero 6 the full version.

can i install that version of nero along with nero 7 Essentials so i can use more than one burner with nero?

Man I hate to talk bad about Nero by geez imho these aren't 'essentials'
Burning Rom is like their core program - not included but they add home & scout. No recode either!

If you use Shrink you need burning rom installed to do the autoburn thing. Express won't cut it.

So redice - bad advice on my part on Essentials. I now know better though :)
You better off using the full version of 6 to get what you want.
Only 1 version can be installed on the pc at one time.

That makes it a little better than :)

It's almost a full version just missing a few apps like burning rom, sound trax, wave editor and probably 1 or 2 more that I'm forgetting.

yeah almost better but only if they would have allowed the use of more than one burner.
