Just burned my first DVD using DVD X Copy Platinum (although it only worked when I unchecked "entire DVD"). The problem is that it only worked in my bedroom DVD player, not in my downstairs DVD player. Is it because it's an older unit (4 year old Sony)?

I wasn't sure what type of media to buy, but I ended up using Sony DVD+R.

    Any ideas? Thanks

DVD-r is more compatible with older model dvd players. Most newer players are dvd+r and older players dvd-r. My stand alone player is + and - 100.00 at costco.

Thanks for the info. So do you recommend buying DVD-R media? Or just replacing my old crapper DVD player?

Which media format should I have bought in the first place?

i would say to try to buy a small pack of dvd-r to see if they will work then you can decide if you want a new dvd player.
