Questions about PC Joysticks

not sure if i can explain this right or if it can be done, but is there a way to change the button Icons or what not. Like im useing a PS2 to PC contoller adapter and i would like to at least be able to change what the computer calls button "1" to say "T" or even better yet put a Triangle there. i have been looking all over the net for something to do that or how to do that but no luck figered i would turn to some experts. sorry if i make no sence or for bad spelling.
