hey guys I have read your solution and was wondering if this would work on the r4 advance. Can anybody shed some light on this or does it only work on r4 sdhc?

hey guys, i just recently bought the r4 advance
and it used to load up fine...but it froze a lot resulting in the loss of all the files and saves in my SD (im using a Kingston 2gb)

I have heard from people that its probably a problem with my sd card so i bought a new one just to try...
but suddenly today as i used the new card, the R4 would get stuck on the loading screen.
I tried inserting my old SD card and still no luck ><

I have tried most firmwares (1.17-1.20) without any luck.

I was wondering if demonG could send the 1.21 file to my email:
    *email removed*

or if anyone has any other ideas why my R4 would suddenly not load ><

    Thanks in advance.

Let's have no more silly people posting email addresses.

Take heed of the new thread title.

You havent downloaded the right firmware. This is what you have to do...

(if you havent already you will need to download
    winRAR to open the files)

    1. Delete everything on your MicroSD Card.

    2. Download this latest firmware (it has to be this particular one). http://www.ndslr4.com/soft/25-en.htm. Extract it and copy and paste the 5 files straight onto the microSD card through the computer. These 5 files are...

    'moonshl' folder

    '_system_' folder

    '_DS_MSHL.NDS' file

    'DS_MENU.INI' file

    '_DS_MENU.DAT' file

    3. Then put microSD card into the R4 device and it should load up fine. If you want to put ROMS on there, just download them and copy and paste them straight to microSD card.

This should work. .there is a Online manual at this address if you need to read it. http://www.ndslr4.com/product-en.htm

I bought one of the R4 Revolution V3 SDHC fot the wifes DS and followed all og=f the advice from this rhread but with no luck then i conntacted the seller from Amazon and they forwarded the following link with the following info:

Please update the software to V3.07 from this link

    http://www.snaparmor.cn/down/r4307/English_Version3.07.rar

After downloading is finished, please use WinRAR to extract the file, you will get a new folder with the same name "English_Version3.07", click this folder, you will see 6 items inside. Please copy and paste these 6 items directly to your Micro SD card. After these steps, your R4 will work with your Micro SD card

    Low and behold it worked;
I hope this helps some of you out i know its an old thread...

    Hi guys,

I've read loads of pages about this issue but forgive me if this is something everyone else has already sorted.

My R4 arrived today, ordered from www.r4adaptors.co.uk (it took 10 days, though, not the 1st class promised!).

The box says "New R4 SDHC Revolution for DS (NDSL/ NDS)" and has a website of http://www.r4ultra.com It was preloaded with 2 folders and a number of files:
    _system_
    moonshl
    _DS_MENU.dat
    _DS_MENU.ini
    _DS_MENU.sys
    _DS_MSHL.nds
    R4-English-1.23.rar
    revolution_software.txt

It came with the USB reader, wriststrap, case etc and a 4GBSanDisk MicroSDHC card but no separate CD or instructions (and the above text file is empty).

Anyway, I have put some .nds ROM files on the card in a "Games" folder I created, which all looks fine. However, when I turn the DS on, I just get the black screen with Loading in white. I have tried:
    * getting some ROMs from another site
    * using a 2Gb non HC card
    * using the card in a Nintendo DS Lite
    * downloading other software as listed at the top of this thread

All with the same result. If I put the R4 in either the DS or DS Lite without a SD card in, I still get the same screen ("Loading").

Any good ideas? Thanks so, so much.

When you choose to run a regular format on a memory card, files are removed from the memory card that you are formatting and the memory card is also scanned for bad sectors. The scan for bad sectors is responsible for the majority of the time that it takes to format a volume.

If you choose the Quick format option, format removes files from the partition, but does not scan the memory card for bad sectors. Only use this option if your memory card has been previously formatted and you are sure that your memory card is not damaged.
