i did everything what it said it the tutorial but the r4 still isnt showimg up on my ds lite. any ideas??? i never got a cd with the r4 if that helps or it could be the memory card - 1gb intergral micro sd
Did you download the firmware, and put all the files in your micro-SD card? http://www.r4ds.com/soft/english/English-1.16.rar
i found out that it was the connection betweent the r4 and the ds, i had to keep the r4 pushed in for it to work. i thought that you could just click it in like any other card
Sometimes you need to make sure the SD card is clutched securely to the R4. I'm glad you figured it out.
it works kind of when i wedge the r4 card into the ds with my finger, is there any way of fixing this so i dont have to do this.??? the microsd card is fine...
I recently got the kit and couldn't get the cart to load. Just updated the firmware and still get a message written in chinese. Someone translated for me and it says the game card is not compatible The hardware and the software looks exactly like everything posted here but for some reason, when I turn it on, it just gives me that message. I wish there was a way I can post the screen photo here. I also took my buddy's working SDmicro card and copied all the files to mine, and I am still getting the same message. It just freezes with the Chinese characters. Any advice would be sincerely appreciated.
Jdogheck you probably have the chinese version a patch can be found at http://ehsia.com/nintendo-ds/howto/r4-chinese-english
@ tommy6, Thanks for the link. Information about this patch was covered in brief via a thread found on this site. However, the one you've provided walks you through the whole process. I'm sure a lot of members will find that very useful.
This is way better than the guides that I used last weekend when I messed up my media menu. I will redo it this coming weekend using this guide. I think that my problems will go away. the lower screen says game loading and shows a blue bar. The top screen starts scrolling text that looks like commands. Version 1.71 appears at the top left and "MoonShell" appears in the middle above the scrolling lines of text. An error was detected while trying to access a disc or file. Did the set up end normally? Is the moonshl folder moved or deleted? Have you enabled the resume function with a media that is not supported? Do you have enough free space on your media? Please reformat the media and try again. Please try with different media from another manufacturer. Then the screens change and both top and bottom have the blue backgrounds top /_system-/themes/theme07 /_SYSTEM_/THEMES/THEME07 5files ../ bckgrd_1.bmp bckgrd_2.bmp icons.bmp logo.bmp theme.ini bottom time date appear and touching the lower brings up a menu int upper left corner System menu Open text as Local. Open text as UTF-8 Open text as UTF-16LE. Open text as UTF-16BE Open binary mode L/R lick (now locking) Customize Change backlight bright RESET.MSE
I am now reinstalling my microSD (transflash) I still get a lower screen full of error messages. m-e-h
How many ROMS could I store on a 2gb SD Card? Does it count the File Size or the Rom Size? I.E, 256Mbit for ROM size or 10.56MB for File Size?
It tallies the file size. 1GB of memory is sufficient enough to hold 20 games, give or take. Optionally, you can trim the ROMs. http://www.r4ds.cn/download/r4_rom_trim_tool.html
I bought an R4 from amazon and it is supposed to be the R4 V3. I have to download software from R4dsl.net....did I get scammed?
@ RobbieNew, Yes. You pick and choose the ROMs. If you're unhappy with one, just delete it and replace it with another. You can also trim them if you want, as I previously suggested. @ happyloaf, Here's the direct link to the latest firmware of R4. This is assuming you have the English version. The firmware installation disc is really not required, as it probably contain an outdated firmware anyway. http://www.r4ds.com/soft/english2/English-1.17.rar
