    Hello, I have the first model 3ds XL and I intend to play my backup roms (both 3ds
    and ds) from an SD card.

    I am uncertain which flashcart has the best features / options.

    I am looking at the r4i 3ds deluxe and the Gateway 3ds.

    As I said I am unclear on a few things so please let me know if I am correct
    in the following:

    * The gateway only supports 3DS code, so it will not play the ds roms?
    * Neither support saving for 3ds games, but the r4i supports ds saves?
    * R4i 3ds deluxe supports online play but not the gateway.
    * both accept SDHC cards.

    I don't know any other questions to ask, but I am sure they are there. I
    have read through a lot of the faq's and I believe I have my facts straight,
    but again, I would rather be clear.

    Thanks for your time.

    The R4i Gold 3DS Deluxe Edition is def the best IMO. The best thing about the r4i gold deluxe is it gets firmware update regularly, the same team also make the great r4i gold 3ds rts card, gateway 3ds is also a good card,but it's double the price of the r4i deluxe. It's the cheapest and most effective solution out there. and it is available for 59USD (shipping included) at http://www.thegamerdepot.com/r4i-gold-3ds-deluxe-edition-p-169.html the best site i've heard to sell R4i cards, just based on my and my friends experiences.

    You cannot play GBA games on an acekard 2i, or on r4/other cards.

    -Nope, the gateway 3ds supports 3DS code as well as ds roms, you'll be able to play ds games with the bundled blue ds card.
    -So far from what I've read, yet, neither support saving for 3ds games, but the r4i supports ds saves
    -Both R4i 3ds deluxe and gateway 3ds support online play and both accept SDHC cards

    * The gateway only supports 3DS code, so it will not play the ds roms?
    gateway also support ds roms (the blue card)

    * Neither support saving for 3ds games, but the r4i supports ds saves?
    gateway support saving 3ds games (use their firmware v2.0b1), r4i cannot, both support ds saves

    * R4i 3ds deluxe supports online play but not the gateway.
    r4i 3ds deluxe cannot support online play right now, their firmware v3.0 can, but 3.0 has not come out yet. gateway firmware v2.0b1 can visit eshop, but seems cannot download games on eshop, v2.0b1 is not very complete so i don't recommend use v2.0b1, if you do a wrong operate, your console will be updated to the latest v6.3 system, then you cannot use any 3ds flashcart anymore

    * both accept SDHC cards.
    yes
