its a "17" crt monitor that can max do 85 hertz and with the built in card i can use 1024x768 with the otha card wont change att all from 800x600
i have 1 drive which is a dvd burner power supply fan n the one on the processor nothing else the slots are empty, but wouldnt the motherboard use less power its self cause its micro atx not just full atx
@dazila, Your power supply isn't powerful enough. Your processor,ram, and card alone are pushing it to its limits.
dazila, I just looked up your motherboard and it has the older style AGP card. As soon as I saw the date (2001)I knew it was the wrong 4x. It's a 1x 2x 4x. Your new card is an 4x 8x. That particular MB was intended to be used with the on board graphics mainly. I tried to supply a link but it's to a PDF file. Just do a google search for the model number of your board and it will be at the very top of the list. Just go there and they have a manual for it! 150 watts just isn't enough. Lucky for you it wasn't a larger PS or the vid card would be toast! I would say that pretty well confirms the low voltage being the reset problem! Happy Computering, theone
dazila, All of the right type of 4x will be no problem as most of them only have 32 MB of memory or less. You would be better off with a PCI card as you can get much more memory. I've got an XFX FX5200 with 128DDR memory in my old Dell Precision 420 and it works great. I went the PCI route because there are no real good, or even good 1x 2x 4x cards to be had and I have the same old style AGP 4x in it that you have that operates at 3.3V. The 4x 8x operate at either 1.5V or 0.8V. I'de stuff PCI card in it and put a 350 Watt PS in it and it should be good to go! Happy Computering, theone
thanks i wnt to the crucial memory site checked the mb and it told me the lastest video cards its supports and ram ( radeon 9600se is the top its an agp), then i finnaly found a shop that sold the 128mb version of the 9600 and a 350watt powersupply and another 256 ram bought it all neve thought to waste tat much oney ina day he the ps in i put the rest and can u belive it the 9600 se is running in a computer that wouldnt run a 9200 i can change the resolution and play high quality games tried underground one and runs thanks for the help
dazila, Your MB was last made in 2001. 1.5V standard didn't come in till 2002. The better card obviously handles both 4x standards for the voltage. Glad it all works right! Happy Computering, theone
The 9200 while slower, runs the newer AGP voltage, so it'll be given 3V when it only wants 1.75V, which would damage it. The 9200 is one of the slowest of the new type cards, whereas the 9600 is about the fastest of the old type. They overlap.
ok thanks very much, would have never figured it out, one more thing is the 9600 better then the 9200 by far or equal and one other thing is the 9600 older then the 9200
9600 and 9200 are of similar age really, but the 9600 is faster.Obviously the se would be faster by a bit, the standard a bit more, the pro a lot more, and the XT hugely more, but most of those cards were 8x only, so the wrong voltage for your board (like your 9200 was)
anyone know what i should do wit the 9200 now , dnt need it in my p4 cause i have a x1900xt in it selling it is nt worth ill get bout 15au bak anyhting else i could do with it
you could always ebay it, I've been pleasantly surprised with the results of ebaying computer components, one of my friends has sold an Athlon XP 2000+, a Sempron (32) 3000+, and a Radeon 9250se, all for pretty much the same amount he paid for them!
