RAM Issues :(

    I had 512MB of RAM in my PC I took one out and put it back into the PC and now it only shows that I have 254MB of RAM.I'm pretty sure it's set up correctly.I'd would also like to add that when I was taking out the stick of RAM,one of the clips to hold the RAM snaped.(This may be an issue?)If anybody has any idea what could be wrong please post.Help would be much appreciated :)

    the stick is not seated properly so reseat it. also how did you snap it as is just a toggle?
