Okay so I won a set of 2GB DDR2 Memory from New Egg Lan Fest. The cards are from PNY Technologies. There XLR8 Performance Editions. I really dont know much about RAM, on the 2 cards it says PC2-6400 3448 2.3V Rev. 1 on the back of them, and on the front of the boxk in the lower right hand corner it says 800MHz 3-4-4-8 2.3V I have no idea what that means, but thats what it says. Okay and so a couple of months ago I also won 4 Gigs of ram from Showdown Lan in San Jose. These are 4 cards are from OCZ Gold Edition XTC. On each card it says PC2 6400 1GB Daul Ch 5-5-5-12 So I have 6 gigs of RAM. Way to much for me, but my brother also won the same 2Gigs of ram of PNY set as I did. I am trying to figure out if I should trade him my 4gigs of OCZ ram I got from Showdown for his 2 Gigs of the PNY Ram or should I just use the OCZ ram I got. I have no idea which is better. Thanks for reading, and if your confused on anything plz tell me.
I have always thought that OCZ was top RAM, but someone else may drop in and say something different. Whatis a Lan Fest, and what did you do to win?
Wow, LAN parties like giving away RAM don't they? That was the prize at our local event, but 1GB of Crucial Ballistix, not quite 4 gigs, good job! grandpa: a Lan fest is a massive get-together of PC gamers, and the 'winner' would be the person or team to win a tournament of events, for example deathmatches, or counter-strike rounds. I personally would stick with the OCZ.
Thanks, Sam. I knew that folks got together to play games, but I did not know that there were actual structured tournaments that gave prizes.
Alright you guys, this discussion is turning into something else. Since I haven't had my question answered yet. It doesnt seem like anyone here know's which RAM is better to use. Please someone out there justify this.
I was really looking for a geeky description of why and such, but thats okay I ultimately looked up the price for each and the 2sticks of PNY is $300 each compared to 2sticks of the OCZ wich is only $150 so im sticking with the PNY.
