ok i have a laptop 1.33 celeron M, windows XP, 256MB RAM, 40HD, 160Gb external HD. external DVD Burner. i do not use the laptop for any gaming.
i mostly use the computer for downloading Music, and ripping/burning DVD's

for about $15 bucks i can get another 256MB stick and run 512mb (256x2)

or for about $90 bucks i can get a 1gb stick.

based on the specs of my computer and what i do, what would you guys recommend? will there be a huge difference from 256 to 512, and/or from 512 to 1gb? money isnt really something i have a ton of to spend, but if getting the 256 chip would not be very helpful i could splurge and get the 1gb chip.

well today on ebay i won a samsung 256mb ram chip with the exact specs on mine for $10.02 and free shipping. for ten bucks i think itll be worth the upgrade from 256 to 512. can anyone let me know how the 256x2 will do in comparision? will it be any better?

do a time test to see how long it takes windows to load windows with 256meg than with 512meg. should see performance improvement with 512meg. also, programs will load faster.
