Ok well yea I either have to wait till the core i7 comes out so the price for my pc (q9550) gets cheaper or wait for even longer for the hole pc to get cheaper.
Then why are you getting your component list now? prices, and what is available completely change from month to month, this is all pointless unless you're building the system now. Why not just get a cheaper processor like the Q6600? That will be plenty for your system. You said you wanted to be able to max everything out, by the time you're done waiting for the Q9550 to be cheap enough, it won't be the CPU that can max things out any more. Prices of specific components change, but you always have to spend the same amount to be able to get certain levels of performance.
sam don't worry because I know how it gets cheaper. I probably won't want to change my mind and be like oh now i want to get something better and stuff.
And costs half as much. The Q9550 is around 30% faster than the Q6600. Hope you can justify all that extra cost for that performance gain. I've owned both CPUs so I know what it's like, and really, I shouldn't have made the upgrade, but I don't spend money on anything other than my PC.
really? youve owned both? interesting. did you downgrade back to the q6600 or stay with the q9550? as i said before, i have a 350.00$ gift certificate that im dedicating solely to the CPU which is why im getting that with no brakes, otherwise id probably get the q9400 which is about 80 dollars cheaper and still 1333fsb, but the l2 is half the size so im sure that helps with the 30% faster part . i too, like you, only spend my money on my pc and parts as well so i dont cheap out. no reason to when it comes to a PC, but again i say, 1650??? go big
People want to buy my Q6600 so it's not quite so much of an expense to upgrade to it. The only reason I really went for a Q9550 was that I found an E0 stepping one, which is better for overclocking.
E0 is worth more though? one that I won't want to get since Im not overclocking.. Oh sam when u got ur ram the one that i showed for 113 did it come with 800 or 1066? did u have to manually set it to 1066?
I'm an overclocker, so I actually set it to a different value. This is why I suggest you get 800mhz memory, as you do not need to manually go into RAM settings and fiddle around.
Well basically im not an overclocker because im afraid of breaking a system lol. so yea. and isn't e0 q9550 like 30$ more than the c1?
Oh sam but maybe I would try clocking my ram to 1066 when i get it first time ever overclocking but im afraid it might break would it?
No it won't break, but you can't always just SET what speed you want RAM to be, it's a bit more complex than that, which is why I keep telling you to get the 800mhz stuff, as you won't notice the difference.
I want to learn overclocking and I want that ram because of how it is. To overclock ram do u need a specific program also or like a cd iso or something? Cuz im a hacker but not an overclocker. I can learn overclocking easily from just a person. And what do u mean it's a bit more complex than just doing it what is required additionally?
Ok w/e sam ok from another forum they say i don't need the motherboard i want to get if im not an overclocker so which other motherboard would be good. I just hate seeing bad reviews about them. for this motherboard the worst review is only about updating the bios which isn't a hard process for the other ones it something worse i see. so help me find a cheaper motherboard for my pc to be cheaper. thanks. peace.
You're quite right, that board is very fully featured, it isn't all about overclocking, but is certainly built with that in mind. This board will probably be ample for your system: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128345 All motherboards will have bad reviews, mostly from retards who don't know how to install drivers or set them up properly.
lol well yea. ill keep up with my forum well yea u wnna know my other forum i use? extremeoverclocking.com not to learn about overclocking but to learn facts. U know what pisses me off about the board it sais it only has 1 x16 pci 2.0 slot. And i hate when it says ddr2 1200 makes me think it doesn't support 1066 or 800 mhz memories. I mean i hate seeing just only 1 number i want to see all the mhz numbers it supports.
UP TO 1200mhz. 1200mhz isn't even a real memory standard, it's just an overclocked version of other ones.
