Hi ... I am new & hope that I am in the right forum ... there are many. I recently ripped a DVD movie using a TDK 440N external burner using DVD X Platinum software. For some reason, after doing so, my burner now fails to operate correctly and refuses to cooperate and work with XP while being connected vis USB to my computer. Symptoms are -- green in use light stays on, disk tray fails to open, and windows hangs up -- when not connected to computer via USB, it functions correctly -- anyone help??? much appreciated!!!

    Hi Tuesdae,
Try uninstalling the drive and reinstalling it.
    Good Luck,
    HW.

    Ps. "IMHO" DVD XCopy STINKS.

    Hi Hally,

I've tried this ... with no luck ... is it possible that some sort of virus or code or protection code was transmitted to the burner either by DVD X or DVD movie software to incapacitate it???? thanks

Have you got another USB cable? If so try that or if you have a firewire connection you could try that. It wouldn't hurt to update the firmware either.
    Please keep us updated.
    Good Luck,
    HW.
