re-writer freezes when writing dvd

i have copy of dvd x copy platinum. i been using it for years. i recently purchased an external dvd burner. it copied the 1st movie without any problem but since then the burner copies fine but when its time to write it starts then freezes after about 18% complete. a window shows saying dvd writing error see error log for more information. can anyone assist with my problem.

 

it could be a few things

make sure you have the most up to date firmware for your drive/burner heck here

could be a media problem,(use Taiyo Yuden or Verbatim burning at 8x max)

you should use better software also DVD X Copy is wayyy out dated heres a thread for the most up to date methods backing up you DVDs

I second that. DVD X Copy was good for it's time. There's much better stuff available now.

dont think that app was wriiten to cope with externals...
