rebuilding help

    hi im currently rebuilding my pc, i have a case and a dvd burner and a graphics card a gefore fx5700 agp and 1 gig ddr ram. i want to get a new cpu and motherboard. im not sure wat will be compatible and i want my ddr ram to work so i dont have to buy new ram, ive found a few motherboards i like and cpu if u could help me out with this it would be great.

    ASUS P5N-E SLI Motherboard

    Gigabyte GA-965P-S3 (Rev3.3)

    cpu

    Intel Core2 Duo E6420

    any suggestions or help would be appreciated. thanks!

    the asus probably has pci/e 16 slot but your videocard uses agp so not compatible. most likely any board using core2 duo will not have agp slot for your videocard.

    both those motherboards use PCI-e and both use ddr2, so youll have to get a new graphics card and ram as well. and If your getting a new mobo, cpu, gpu, and ram, you might as well build a whole new computer since thats most of the cost right there.

    oh ok thanks for that. yeah i think i will unfortunately :( start saving i guess :p so either one of the motherboards a cpu are good?

    u could get this mobo it supports ddr2 and ddr ram and it can have both agp x8 and pci-x x16 and has support for the core duo 2
    mobo here

    sweet :D thats the one for me then, thanks for that. so and core duo cpu will work in it ?
