my yamaha a/v receiver has only one digital optical input which is used by the dvd player. the cable company is broadcasting hdtv hbo stuff in 5.1...how can in incorporate this?...is there a way to branch off 2 optical inputs...the cable box has an optical output..but only one on the a/v
You would need a switch! Any switch would work as long as it was break-before-make type. A splitter would be inappropriate. I would consider giving the SPDIF over to the cable, if it can be proven to work, and hooking the DVD up the old fashioned way, but try the switch first Sounds like a job for Radio Shack... L8R
Try www.audioauthority.com or www.copperbox.com or smarthome.com They will have your splitter. My Bose had the same problem...
