    Hello,

Can anybody recommend a USB sound module ("sound card") that
    1) Encodes multi-channel audio with Dolby Digital Live, and outputs it via SPDIF Toslink?
    2) Supports at least 5.1 channels, prefer 7.1
    3) Can turn on (or keep active) its DDL encoding and SPDIF ouput without needing to install a device driver to activate this functionality?

I'm hoping to use this device with USB hosts that are NOT computers.

The only products I could find were:
    Creative Labs X-fi Pro
    Asus Xonar U1
    Any others I should consider?

    Thanks!

thats all i can think of too. look up auzentech or htomega for other decent offerings, at least in the add-in card range. sorry if no usb options are listed.

btw, im not sure that toslink supports higher than 6 channel audio.
