I just got a new Sony DVD/VHS Recorder for christmas and have been able to copy birthday partys and stuff from vhs to dvd. But when i burn a disney movie or something it says its restricted. I understand it is due to microvision protection. I currently have GoDVD! connected between the tv and the dvd player. Please any help would be appreciated.....
You can't do it with that combo unit. You will need another VHS player and also a macrovision remover box in the video line between the VHS player and the dvd recorder. The boxes cost anywhere from $50. to $100. Just do a search for Macrovision removers. Jerry
I currently have Godvd! already which is a video enhancer. Hopefully that will still work. Do you know where i might be able to find a black box and what kind?
Okay great im ordering that right now. Is there a special kind of vcr player i need to get or any other one i have at the house can i use?
hello svrds10 i don't know about the GoDVD, but the other set goes vhs player + Video Stablizer + Your Sony DVD/VHS Recorder the "video stablizer" i use is avalible on EBAY for ($25.00) it's called a "RX11" it's a little black box about 4"x4" it goes in between your "Video in line" and your "Video out line" just go to ebay and type in "Video Stablizer" and look for the above. you can spend as much as you want on video stablizer but this $25.00 works good. i'm transfering my VHS collection to DVD with a external VHS player + Video Stablizer + my Sansui DVD/VHS 4005 Combo Recorder you can also do "VHS Record to DVD Record with this unit it's self and a video stablizer if you know how to hook it up, had someone show me it work's there are also what they call "HACKS" for several DVD Players and DVD Recorders on the net aswell if you unit can be "Hacked" well that's another story. here's one website that's good help with all these question's.............. www.videohelp.com go here and check it out...try the "HACK" section PM me if you need some help, i'm a newbie too. Afterdawn.com is a great place to be and a bunch of great people aswell here. i can now do the DVD thing on my computer with NO problems, it's great. my 2 cents
great thanks for all the good information. It clears up alot of the questions i had. I should be ok now im going to hook it up to my vcr right now. One question i still had was what would i use the vcr part of my sony vcr/dvd combo recorder for if i have to use a different vcr anyways. I got the recorder to record my tv shows already also.
i got everything working now. Thanks alot for your quick responses and great help. I know where to come in the future for any issues. Thanks again...
