Hey guys i was wanting to know if it is possible to take a game or any software product really but for the sake of this thread i am going to use a game, and edit the files that are notepad and so forth. What i am saying is like in Nfl Head Coach i bought the game nothing i am saying here is meant to be piracy or resell i am talking just for my self and nothing more. So anyway once the game is installed go in and find the file for instance coaches.txt and open it in notepad and change some of the coaches loaded stats (to make them better or coarse) and if it would mess the game up. If this is possible then how do you learn how to understand all the symbols that notepad pulls up. When you open you can make out the coaches name but there are no numbers just symbols. Is there a software that you can use for editing this and putting it in laymans terms? Anythoughts would be great. Thanks guys. Again this is not any form of piracy i just am tired of having some bad players and wanted to see if i could fix it. I know it is cheating in the game but hey its my game i just wanted to see if you intelligent people had any answers. (thats not sarcastic) thanks again

The file you are opening is not really just a simple text file. Notepad will "open" it but you won't be able to make meaningful changes with Notepad. You need to open the file with the specific, machine language editor that it was made with. Make you edits using that language.

I have NO idea what that language might be. Someone here might know, I doubt if the game maker is going to tell you. If you get that info, then you will need to find the necessary machine language editor.

Thank you for your reply, since that post i have found a program called edit pad pro and this does let me read it a lot clearer but i have not edited it because i do not understand what the symbols and all mean. I would like to know. I have always been very interested in computers and creating programs. But without going back to school for something that does not apply to my profession i am not sure where to turn. Anyway.. does anyone know of another program similar to the one mentioned above that might beable to make meaningful changes to this program. Thanks again guys

I thought i would add that it must be possible because i was able to find a no cd crack on the internet so i would not have to carry the cd around with me. (My computer is a laptop) So obviously you can rewrite a useable addition to a program. Does anyone still not know? I am not just a newb trying to ask one question i have been a member for a while now and had several post. any ideas?

Why is it that someone can create a thread asking for piracy (The KEYGEN THREAD ON THIS PAGE) and for days it is talked about (21 replys as of 8:00pm 2-05-07) and made fun of but when someone has a serious question no one can take the time to answer?

Look to edit the game liek you are asking it would take the programmers of the game or some serious programmers that know what they are doing to rewrite it even if its a little part wide changes over the whole game have to be changed as well as error checkers and things like that if you did change things and it did work (which it wouldn't) your next question would be how do i change back to the orginal file because it keeps crashing if you want cheats then search the internet for them because they are already preprogrammed into the software but you can't just write a cheat for a game like that lol thats crazy talk and if you could well lets say you would have a job making games for definite :D

Thank you that is pretty much what I have figured. That still does not explain how someone created a No CD Crack but I will trust you and give it up. Look, it is more than this game. I really enjoy trying to figure this stuff out. It would be an accomplishment to me more than getting to cheat in the game. Its just the only game I have on PC. Thanks Again…….I knew what “AD” stood for I was being sarcastic in the sense that you and I are here to find help and most importantly when we can offer help and have general conversation on these topics. That's why the subject says what is "AD" for not what does it stand for. That’s all I was saying .

No cd cracks don't reprogram the game they replace and add files in the nessecary place to make the program think it is registered and to think the disk is in. Anyone can do it but i can't discuss how to do that :)

ok just to mention again this was not for any kind of piracy. If you want to email me your email adress or something i can take a picture of the case and my proof of purchase. So let me just ask this if a crack adds files and so forth and so on can the same thing be done to add codes or to redo roster files or something? So if you two guys know how and cant tell me where can i find info on learning how to read the programs and create things like that.

its not just file adding when it comes to the actually game code its alot more complicated then files need to be rewritten using a special editor which would be very doubtful that you would get hold of it and if you did there is a fat chance you would be able to read the code. As you mentioned about looking for names and changing it, its alot more complicated for example a player called john smith code for coded for 34 78 46 23 67 and so on that only the program can read and you would need the source code.

As for taking pictures of your things lol you are not trying to prove to us your legal your trying to convince the moderators that you are not using the forum for piracy talk lol :D

Rickster0, I appreciate you taking the time to answer my questions. You know it is sad though that some people spend so much time trying to learn how to pirate material. I mean i laughed when i read your comment about me above because as far as you know that could be the case. However i am not stupid i think with common sense. What i mean is that well lets use this game i paid $18 bucks and some change at wolly world a couple of weeks ago and it took me 10 mins to go in and get it. Some one who wanted to pirate this game would probally spend several hours downloading it and thats if it came out right the first time and then probally would jump on here as a newb and ask how to install it and run it with the cracks and so forth i have mentioned. Well lets be conservative and say it took them 4 hours total down load time and time it took to figure out how to run it. (The program is about 1.3 GB) Well if they got paid just 5 dollars an hour not even minimum wadge and actually worked, they could have bought it and not had any trouble. So no thats not what i am doing trying to convince a moderator anything because if i got booted for something i did not do then i would just do like all newbs and create an yahoo email or change my existing one and create a new account. :) thats a joke of course.

When i said you i did not mean you specifically lol i mean't thats what people would be doing and you don't need to send me pictures to prove to me your legal as for what your saying about downloading you have to understand that alot of people choose to download many games over a period of time which would cost more money i live in britain and it is done more because things are more expensive but yes your right that doesn't mean they can ask how to use the crack because they can't click the generater button lol meaning that they probably can't get a job to pay for those games and thats why its up to people like you and me to buy our games and tell other people that ask about pirated games to get stuffed in a nice way :D
