Normally my brother would reinstall my operating system for me and friends I never paid close attention on how he did it, I did notice he seemed to boot into safe mode first when doing our machines.

I am going to reinstall a friend of mines OP WIN XP home I have everything he want's to keep backed up, I beleive I can just put his install cd in the drive and go from there and no safe mode needed.

Any sudjestions or tips would be appreciated.

no safe mode needed. insert the CD when turning the computer on, and make sure it boots from the CD. There should be a blue screen that takes a few mintues to load the setup software. Then select your options of repairing, re-installing, completely formatting, etc. Once you select what you want, sit back for about an hour and it'll do its thing.
