removing subtitles that are not part of the video, but embedded into the video.

    Hello, I have a .avi file that has subtitles that can be enabled and disabled. How can I remove these from the file?

    If the AVI file has Xsubs (created using AVIAddXSubs) then they can be removed using the same program.
    Xsubs can only be played back on a standalone player and are controlled by the remote.

    Thank you, I will try this, but have no idea what program was used to add them. I downloaded the video and it came with spanish subs. I can handle turning them off when i play it, but when i burn it to a dvd I am afraid I wont be able to turn them off.

    Drag the AVI into MediaInfo;if the file has DivX subs, it should be displayed.

    I just converted a Bivx file. I wanted to drop the French audio.

    Try AVI-Mux GUI first.

    Untick 'all audio/all sub streams', Highlite the file-> Generate. Now don't tick the audio stream and/or sub you don't want and Start.
