I need to replace the DVD drive on my Gamecube, and firstly I was curious as to possibly use a regular DVD drive (either from a computer or a DVD player; I have both). I figured it would work if it was wired in correctly. The only problem with it is that the Gamecube drive reads in reverse and the standard, well, is forward. Does anyone have any idea of how to be able to reverse the way the disk reads? Is it just a simple reversing the power? Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.

You need a drive matched to the drive electronics and firmware. An off the shelf drive won't work.

Thanks for your quick response. I was just assuming that there was some way to make it work. I have it connected and it "works" but it doesn't read games. Oh well, thanks again!
