Thanks for the never ending stream of updated codes. While waiting for codes I tried to update to the Beta software but the link between box and pc would not open. Using a null modem cable and usb serial adaptor as none of our pcs has a serial port. The arrangment connects ok to my technomate Sat. box but this is the first time I've tried the replay box. Is there any other software I should be using? Serial ports seem to have gone out of style? Thanks again, regards

Are you using the STBlink-6 ?

Like many of the RS232 cables not all usb serial adaptor cables are null modem. Null modem is reverse wired as opposed to the standard straight wired serial cable.

Well I know that at some stage you will need to sort the communication issue but there really isn't much point in flashing the Replay with the Beta just now as the new firmware for the Replay will be here sooooon......

    Anyway,

    Have you followed these steps?

Loaded software drivers for the adapter.

Set the com port number on the PC.

Used the same com port on the STBlink software.

Thanks Novice 99 and gman. I am defininirely using the right cable. Gman has probably hit the mark with the setting of the com port number. Unfortunately Msoft is not too clear on setting com port numbers for a null modem cable. I've had a look at Phone and Modem options in control panel and think I may have to do some experimenting. I'll post any progress. Thanks,

How to Check & Change your COM Port number in XP

    Assuming you are using XP?

    Do the following.

    START
    Right Click "MY COMPUTER"
    Choose "MANAGE"
In the resulting window, click on "DEVICE MANAGER"
In the right hand pane, click on the little plus sign beside "PORTS" in the right hand pane.
Right click on the USB Adapter (Should be something like "Prolific USB-to-Serial Comm Port (COM#)
    Choose "Properties"
    Click on "PORT SETTINGS" TAB
    Click on "ADVANCED"
Then you will see the COM Port Number Box. You should be able to change it there using the drop down box.
Try to set it to COM2
    Restart Windows

Set STBLink to COM2 & try to connect.

If that fails try another port number.
