You do know that you need to unzip that file before you can load it in ti STBlink?

Here's how to find check & set your COM Port in Windows,

    Do the following.

    START
    Right Click "MY COMPUTER"
    Choose "MANAGE"
In the resulting window, click on "DEVICE MANAGER"
In the right hand pane, click on the little plus sign beside "PORTS" in the right hand pane.
Right click on the USB Adapter (Should be something like "Prolific USB-to-Serial Comm. Port (COM#)
    Choose "Properties"
    Click on "PORT SETTINGS" TAB
    Click on "ADVANCED"
Then you will see the COM Port Number Box. You should be able to change it there using the drop down box.
Try to set it to COM2
    Restart Windows

Set STBLink to COM2 & try to connect.

If that fails try another port number.

I have done many in the last two days & only one produced the problem you are experiencing.

All I done was powered off the box waited a minute, powered up again & done the scan again, It then found all the channels.

How To Upgrade (Flash) Replay Lite: (NTL Ireland)

Connect the null modem lead to the box and your PC.
    Open up the Stblink
    Untick “Maintain User Data”
    Click the Upgrade software button.
Browse to the 910 firmware file on your PC.
From when you start to see the blocks transfer, it takes 4 Mins Approx for the box to be updated.
But make sure you see the led flashing much more quickly than it did when the blocks were transferring. If you leave for even 5 mins it will be OK.
Unplug everything and head for the TV.

    Connect the power lead only.
Wait for the led to flash red/green and then stay on green.
If it does not turn green pretty quick, use the remote to turn it on.
Then connect SCART and TV cables.
You might have to unplug the box again and then power it up for a second time.

Now: Do a full scan. (Should only take 5 Min Approx)

    Menu
    User Installation
    Auto Search
    Start Frequency: 2900
    End Frequency: 4030
Symbol Rate: 6887 (If not available, type it in manually)
    Constellation: 64 QAM
    Search by Network: On
    Search

When all available channels are found select the “View” button.
Goto a premium channel and wait for the box to unscramble.
“Be patient, it may take a few minutes.

Finally, check & confirm your settings:

    Menu
    User Installation
    Parental lock
    Current password 0000
    Parental lock –off
    Install lock ----off
    New password 7777
    Confirm password 7777
    Goto Key Manager
    Current Key….OK
    Auto Update on
Exit back to the main menu.

I just remembered what caused that issue on the one box for me.

I had forgotten to untic the "Maintain User Data" box before performing the flash. Even so when I powered up again & scanned it found them all.

Yes that is the correct USB Adapter but you will still need the NULL Modem cable to connect between the adapter & box.

And yes again, that's exactly what the new firmware does ;-)

Is the quality issue a recent one or has it been like that for some time?

Basically there are a few things which may contribute to this.

Provider Signal Strength in your area

Ongoing work by your provider in your area

    Cable quality & connections

The use of splitters & or amplifiers

Interference from an array of other influences

Have you tried connecting your cable directly to the TV (Nothing in between) & see what the quality is like then?

sorry about the time delay i am also having probs with my broad band... another days work.
the last set of codes were perfect. this one is just a bit odd. this did happen a while ago but when i put in the next set of codes it righted itself. iam going to try and re do the same codes and see if it makes a difference.
thanks for listening to my ignorance

Just like to say thanks to all the guys who added to this thread, and sorted this problem.

I have followed all the tips/Links and flashed my Replay, all looks good and stable now.

I just have one question, where would I find an update instruction manual for a Replay Lite?

Sorry for such a lame question after the last few weeks events :)

    Thanks again

I know you have flashed your box but are you looking for the instructions on how to flash?

Sorry gman excuse my broken English, or rather my bad grammar, lol

What I meant to say = I'm looking for a up to date product instruction manual, so I can learn how to add to favs etc. etc.

Rather then ask all the different minor questions on this thread, it would be better to get the user guide.

By the way part of the thanks goes to you.

    Cheers

    NOVICE 99,

I was after an answer to the same question as briandir.
I have 7.51 on a replay PVR. Would you recommend installing the 9.10 onto it as per brian1956's post??.

    Thanks

Unfortunately , the Replay Lite fix is not suitable for the Replay pvr. There is a thread on this forum where someone has tried it and had to reinstall 7.51.

The pvr is still popular and the last fix worked for the past 12 months so I have no doubt there will be an update. Will prob take a little longer though.

Essential you use the correct null modem cable. There are several types of null modem cable and only one type(Maplins Part No. listed earlier in these pages)will do. Com port error means your box is not talking to your pc. I had similar prob. but setting com port to correct number (as advised in these pages) sorted it. Persevere, these guys will help you out for sure.

Question re upgrade of replay lite
    - having 'downgraded' to 742a (having followed the usual process and waiting to the speedy flashing of the lite)I cannot seem to upgrade to 9.10 -

On opening STB link, setting up comm and unticking maintain user data I have selected 'upgrade software' and selected the 9.10 bin file - it then states it is 'connecting' but makes no progress at all.

When I cancel upgrading and power on the box when connnected to a tv it has a green lite when powered off and a red when powered on?

Any ideas on how to solve this problem? should I reinstall 742 A or some other old software or does it have to be an direct upgrade bewteen 742 A and 9.10?

    Thanks.
