why not flash your box with the auto updating firmware mentioned in my post above that way you won't have to keep putting new codes in yourself,...........

    HI,
can anyone help me, I am trying to connect my replay lite box to my pc via a null modem cable with nine pins on 1 end and a usb on other as my p.c does not have a com port on back. When i connect and power up i am getting connection unestablished like the others have had. Problem is when i go into device manager it shows as an unkown usb device (like plugging in a usb device and not installing driver). It makes no difference selecting com 1 or 2 on the stb link, it still does not connect. I looked at the info on assigning a com but doesnt seem relevant as i cannot change any of my com settings (no option. can anyone please please please help. thx in advance

Firstly, if the cable you have has a usb on one end and a serial connection on the other with 9 pins (male) it is only an adapter and you still need a null modem cable connects from the adapter to the box. If however it has a usb on one end and a 9 pin female serial connection on the other it is ok.

When you say it is looking for a driver, have you installed the driver? Every USB connection made needs a driver which should have come on a cd with the cable/Adapter. If you do not have the driver cd use the following link where you will find the usb adapter driver.

    Thx novice,
after putting my last post in i sat down to eat my tea and found a driver disc, Lol, really sorry my bad such a noob, OK, so have a cable with a usb on 1 side and a 9 pin male on other side (but i have a small adapter thingy to convert it to female). I have changed my usb serial to com 1. Now when i click on set up con , then con 1, it goes to 50% then says connection failed. I have connected with power off (red light)on my box and trying, still same, tried connecting with power off, then switching box on (green light) still same and have tried connx with green light on and still same result, connection failed at 50%. Is it my cable? i shouldnt think so as its new as is the standard female adapter. Any ideas?

Suppost the first thing to understand is that the USB to 9 pin male is purely to provide you with a standard serial comm port for your pc where there is not one provided. So you now have a pc with a 9 pin comm port. Most older pc's had these ports installed as standard.

To communicate with the replay you need a "Null Modem" cable. A male to female adapter is no use for this purpose as it is not "Null Modem". A null modem cable is reverse wired i.e. pin 1 on one end of the cable is wired to pin 9 on the other and so on. This is highly unlikely to be the case with an ordinary gender changer adapter.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but I suggest you will have to buy a null modem cable to complete the job.

You are welcome. Unfortunately, asking for assistance and advice in many of the electrical component stores now is akin to the two Ronnies famous fork handles sketch.

    Hi again guys/gals,
If i could ask a question again please. Please can anyone tell me what cable i need make/model number etc as I am currently online trying to find an rs-232 null modem cable, but always i am finding the 9pin female to 9pin female connector. I need a 9 pin female to USB null modem cable which i am struggling to find. I did buy a rs-232 USB to Serial adapter but this had a male 9pin connx and i added a gender changer to make it female but this is failing (see my prev posts). So at this point I am lost as I am told that the wiring is incorrect (see prev post again :)). What exactly am I looking for now? Bearing in mind i can only connect to p.c. via a usb.

    Thanx again in advance

should mention that the cable i purchased is a USB to Serial adapter stating (provide a connection between p.c. usb,s port to a RS-232 Serial Device) and I added a Mini Gender Changer 9pin D-sub female/femal wiring 1:1 to make it fit to my replaylite

    if thats any help :)
