    Flashing your Replay Box

Before you start you must have the following:

    1. A Null Modem RS 232 Cable
    2. A PC with a free COM Port (9 pin male port)
    3. An RF Adaptor (you should have got one with your box)
    4. Software STBlink5.20 (Client) (the software which flashes the box) plus the file which puts has the coding software– either V750_PVR for the Full Box or 750 for the Replay Lite Box onto the actual unit.

Open up the Stblink5.20 Client on your PC

You should get a screen like this :

Plug in the null modem lead, PC & Replay Box. Switch on Replay Box and press the Setup Comm button. If it’s connected a blue line will move from left to right confirming that a connection has been made.

Then press the Upgrade Software Button and choose the appropriate file for your box. The Lite file is currently Version 750.

There are 515 blocks required for each box. Allow the link to download and then WRITE the information to your box. On the Full Replay you’ll see the word GooD and on the Lite the light will stop flashing once every second to blinking ‘very quickly’ which indicates it’s finished. Do not unplug until the light flashes very quickly.Remove the power and plug it back in again.

    The Replay Box (any version)

Your unit should be flashed and ready to use.

You’ll need to do a channel scan if this has not already been done. When you power the box up you’ll see a splash screen with the language selection. The blue button (NEXT) takes you straight to the Auto Search Screen.

IMPORTANT INFO SECTION – READ AND UNDERSTAND 

Although all services are run by Virgin Media you will have previously had a service from either NTell, ex C&W or Telepest. When you start the Auto Search you should change the SYMBOL RATE which you are scanning on. IF YOU USED TO BE NTell – use the remote to change the DEFAULT SYMBOL RATE setting of 6887, 6952 to ONLY 6887 (left arrow next to OK then down arrow to move to search). If Telepest change to 6952 ONLY. If you search on both it will take twice as long as it’s search for half the time on channels that don’t exist in your area!

If your box has already scanned for channels, press the OK button on the remote to list either ALL channels or if pre programmed the Favourite Menu (You can use the FAV button to navigate directly to this menu). Use the arrows around the OK button to navigate. When the menu is highlighted in BOLD YELLOW then that is the menu which is active.

0000 Channel Scrambled – this means that you need to do the following.

    Press Menu
    Go to Utility
    Go to Parental Lock
At the Current Password type 7777 into the remote.

This will bring up a screen with ACCESS DENIED. Press OK Then press the RED button to go to Key Manager then press EXIT. You have now UNLOCKED the Replay Box.

The message with change to 1800 Scrambled – just wait a minute or so for the keys to update. You will only have to do this once.

Once your first scrambled channel comes in – they all will!

    On Screen Teletext

This is a minor bug in the software – just press the yellow button on the remote then the EXIT button and this will disappear. Note if you use version 744 – this bug has been fixed.

    HI all,
Tried the 7.51 version for the replay lite still does not work correctly, if you do a auto channell scan although you can choose 6887 for the symbol rate, when it scans it still only scans on 6952 symbol rate, so you will lose all your channels and wont be able to scan them in agin.

    just a word of warning.

PS info button does not work on the 7.51 version either

Would advise people to be cautious when buying "Null Modem Cable". I went to a well known electronics store in Dublin city today to get one for my mate and when I did not see any on the display where I got mine the other day I asked at the counter if they had any. The guy behind the counter directed me back to the display to RS232 cables stating that they were the same. After quite a disagreement between us he made a phone call and then agreed that they are NOT the same.

A "Null Modem" cable is reverse wired while an "RS232" is straight wired and will not work for the task of updating Replay Lite.

Please ensure that the packaging clearly states "Null Modem" and do not be pawned off with an RS232 as it will not work.

No worries I'm lucky or unlucky depending on how you look at it I've got two boxes so I can always update one and if it dose'nt work just reflash off the other one.

    GOOD NEWS

I have flashed with version 7.51 and as stated by raptor it will not find any channels in "Auto Search" and you lose all existing chanels. Despite this and not letting it get the better of me I found a way around it and got 130 TV and 33 Radio Channels which is more than I had before when I only had 152 TV & Radio in total.

Here is how to do it

    Flash with version 7.5.1

When you switch back on the box it will be in the state it was in b4 you flashed. If you want to scan for channels do the following

Press Menu > User Installation > Manual Search

Channel Number will be highlighted so leave it on this

Use Left arrow on remote and scroll back through channel numbers until you see one with a Symbol Rate 6887

When you are on a channel with Symbol Rating 6887 use the down arrow to scroll down until Search is highlighted and press OK

The TV and Radio channels will start to laod

When it is finished searching "View" will be highlighted

    I got 130 TV and 33 Radio

Press OK and this will store all the Channels

The only downside is that the "info" is still not available but I can live with that.

Where there is a will there is a way! Hope this is of some help to you guys.

Well I have just installed it and it worked perfectly. Full search on Symbol Rate 6887 and now I have more channels than ever. Give it another go raptor as you got version 7.5.2 from the same source as I did.

Thanks again debic you are a star.
