    Hello,

Anyone could provide a way to get the GCC-4520B firmware.

(Any firmware version will be good.)

    Thanks.

You say that you want the stock firmware.... didnt know you could go backwards on firmware updates? If you just want any firmware just go to the manufcatuerers website and grab it... i'm personally not too familiar with the GCC-4520B -- it seems to suggest LG but i did a quick search and found nothing but just go to whatever the manufacterer's site is and you should find what you need

    hi

i looked everywhere for this firmware! i even found your new user webbertrix? on another forum! LOL

    Thx...
    dont think there is one?

you can go backward on firmwares! not on all drives though! my plextor can go back from 10 to 5 - plextor then took out 1 to 4 as the talk on this was it could copy games! so companys made plextor stop it doing it?

    Thx...

But why would you even want to go backwards on firmware updates in the firstplace?

I beleive the GCC-4520B using the same MediaTek chipset
    as the GCC-4480B.

    GCC-4480B = MediaTek Chipset (MT1616E/MT1628E)
    GCC-4520B = MediaTek Chipset (MT1616E/MT1628E)

-The MT1616E is for 16x DVD Reading.

-The MT1628E is for CD-R/RW operations.
(Original Mediatek specs could go at 52X)

They are both using the same 2MB sram memory from Hynix :
    HY57V161610DTC-7 (7ns memory)

They are both using the same SST firmware chip :
    SST39SF040 (4Mbit, Flashable)

GCC-4480B - Factory build stamp starting from January 2003.
GCC-4520B - Factory build stamp starting from February 2003.

    Getting the picture ?

    Well,

    GCC-4480B HW + (GCC-4520B Firmware)
    = GCC-4520B Hardware

This is how you could upgrade your drive
    to gain 4x more..
