hi,my sister is investing in a new pc,she knows nothing about them.
she wants to use it for the usual music, video, web etc etc..
so my question is if she was to go into a PC store what would she need to ask for exactly,in relation to the tower, processor???

    many thanks guys.

    A few suggestions,

1 gigabyte of ram (you'd be surprised of slow 512 megs can be)

if shes going to be downloading movies and tv episodes, a 200 gig hard drive (or greater) would be a wise investment, but if not a 120 gig should be fine for her needs.

STAY AWAY FROM VISTA if possible, it slows down the computers resources with the built in DRM (Digital Rights Management). And its not that special to begin with.

If shes not going to be editing the videos a Celeron processor would be fine (although a Dual Core processor would be a nice investment), and whatever video card that is built in/ come with the computer should be fine unless shes into gaming.

For future upgrades make sure the motherboard supports sata hard drives its not a big deal but it would come in handy. And make sure that the motherboard has a PCI-Express slot, ud be surprised how much of a pain it is to find a decent video card (for a reasonable amount) that isn't a PCI-Express.
