    beltline,

There is only one Lighting U.K. and that be da man -

Between Lightimg U.K. and DVD Shrink they are the reson that so many pple are able to backup DVD's with so much ease.

Welcome to aD Lighting U.K., anything that we can do - We're at your beck and call - I am at any rate -

Perhaps That's why I'm having so mauch trouble re-ripping i Robot, The PSL files were loaded into DVDD and this was the first disc I put in - In the future, I'll know a bit better - We live and learn everyday - 60 yrs old and still feeling that I just started.

    Cheers, all

    Pete

i was able to make a full movie iwth both wide and standard versions, and then a copy of just the movie (widescreen). i used vobblanker, dvdshrink, and then clonedvd2

thanks for all the help all.

You all need to read ... I followed the simple steps posted by Troy1x.
VobBlanker created a video_ts file which I was able to open and backup w/ CloneDVD2 Full movie, working menu and all the extras. The video_ts file also went throught the initial Shrink analysis. There is no reason why you couldn't make a full backup w/ Shrink ... working menu and all.

I only used VobBlanker and CloneDVD2 and my 1 backup contained both widescreen and full screen options.

I tried to do what you posted, but I can't access the DVDD link because I was not a previously registered member and apparently they are not accepting any new members at this time. So then I tried using VOB Blanker and it gives me "error in reading input vob:unsyncronized" I remember seeing someone else advise about this error when I read through the threads, but I couldn't seem to find it again. Any suggestions on how I can get RE2 to "slide on through"
    Thanks!

my coworker and i studied the dvd last night and identified the problem. you have to use dvd decrypter. the problem is in chapter 1, cell 8. uncheck cell 8 and it should work. the clock goes crazy during playback, but it never hangs during file extraction.

HEY I FOUND A SMOOTH WAY TO BACKUP RESIDENT EVIL #2 THAT NO ONE HAS TOUCHED ON .
1.I USED SUPER COPY DVD AND TOLD THE PROGRAM TO SPLIT MOVIE INTO TO DISKS.
2.FOR SOME ODD REASON, THE PROGRAM LET ME BACK UP RESIDENT EVIL #2 ON BOTH DISKS WITH NO PROBLEM .
3.INSTEAD OF SPLITING THE MOVIE , IT SIMPLY MADE 2 COPIES OF THE MOVIE WITH NO PROBLEMS. TRY IT AND SEE HOW IT WORKS.I DIDNT EVEN USE NERO JUSS WHAT THE SUPERCOPY DVD HAD TO OFFER . *NOTE* NEW TO ALL OF THIS AND MADE A CLEAR COPY OF THE MOVIE ...... :)

ANOTHER WAY I DID IT WAS BY LOADING BACKUP ON HARD DRIVE AND THEN USING DVD SHRINK TO MAKE A PERFECT COPY.*NOTE WITH DVD SHRINK , ON THE 1ST GO AROUND IT TOOK ME 1.5 HOURS TO BURN RESIDENT EVIL #2 WITH EVERYTHING ON IT.DEPENDING ON WHAT YOU WANT ON YOUR BACKUP , WILL DEPEND ON THE LENGTH OF TIME IT TAKES TO PROCESS.THAT IS WHAT I USED AND IT WORKED FOR ME.SO GOOD LUCK AND I HOPE I HELPED SOMEONE OUT IN BACKUP LAND .......

I had no time to purchase super copy dvd nor was I getting that desperate. I hear a lot of you saying that you have the movie but with no working menus. Guess what? I do. Just go the tried and true way. Use decrypter and dvd shrink. Just make sure you import the psl.file and go on using your regular methods. The menus will still work and the movie still plays as normal in wide and full screen.

To answer another question....yes you can burn with clonedvd only after using vobblanker. But this is only if you like to get technical. I spent 12hrs yestarday working on this project and different methods. So people don't get all frantic. Just use your regulars decrypter and shrink.

Anydvd versions 3 and 4 do not help out on this disc.
    DVDcopyX cannot break the encryption.

BTW...thanks to lightning UK for making this work possible.

    CutePerv and Eagles69

Took your advice and did the SuperDvdCopy thing. Thats the only program that I had to use. Just like you said Eagles69 it told me that it would split it into two discs and it did. Don't know if you checked it very close or not, but the first disc had the entire movie, but I could only access and watch it in widescreen. The second disc had the entire movie, but I can only access and watch it in full screen. Guess that's why it had to be split. Go back and try yours and see if you can access both wide and full on the same disc.

I'd still like to have scubaPete get back to me on my original post in case we run into this again. Like to have all of the options. Thanks for all the help

so here are the accepted methods
[bold](1)[/bold] 1) Rip using "Super DVD Copy v2.0 or later" available from http://www.dvdtodivx.net/ (The TRIAL version will work fine)

    2) Compress it using "DVDShrink"

    3) Burn using "Nero" or your other favorite dvd burning software. [bold](taken from newbie xeonox... thanks:D) [/bold]

(2)[bold] using FREE vob blanker from http://www.posunplugged.com/jsoto/ this was posted by viper64 [/bold]
Using Vobblanker to copy resident Evil Apocolypse
I just made a backup copy using this software.
A- Make a new Folder to save this in.
    1. insert dvd in computer(resident evil apocolypse)
    2. open up vobblanker
    3. input folder (browes and find dvd drive letter)click on it then click on the video_ts folder click open twice.
    4. output folder(browes and find folder you created)click on it and then click OK.
    5. highlight all items in the title set window all items should now be blue.
    6. click the Process butten below and wait for the software to do its thing.Once its done
7.open up shrink then press the open file button
    8. find your folder and click on it and then click ok
    9. click re-auther
    10. double click title 1 under the main movie window
    11. then click backup. There you go Good Luck
One easy solution to RIP RESIDENT EVIL 2 is as follows:

DVD Decrypter could always do the job, Decrypter just had to be shown what files were the bad files so that it could bypass them.. Lighting U.K. the author of DVDD (DVD Decrypter) just had to design a "patch". It's about 6 posts up from the bottom of this thread -

    http://forum.dvddecrypter.com/index.php?s=9b13ab890c241fd1486f40771c02833a&showtopic=14891&st=0

Right-click the "Attached file DVD_VIDEO.PSL" and save it to your Desktop. Next open up DVD Decrypter, go to "File" then "Protected Sectors List" then "Import". Browse until you find your downloaded DVD_VIDEO.PSL file and click, "OK" and those files will automatically be "gobbled up" by DVDD so when you get ready to rip RE2 it will just slide on through.

Once again it has been proved that no matter what pple think of to encrypt something, someone else will find a way to break it :)

[bold]THANKS TO EVERYONE FOR FIGUREING THIS OUT!!!!!
my choice would be the dvd decryptor method... because its the fastest. vob blanker is slow as hell took me probably 3 times the rate it usually would.
but anyway, thanks scubapete, viper64 and xeonox[/bold]

Hi, newbie here.. I normally use SHRINK for my backups, but as you know, this disk is a nightmare. I get an error while using [bold]VOB BLANKER[/bold]

I'm trying to rip RE2 and it won't even start..

Here's a pic of error message: Reached end of VOB too early.

    HELP?

My input and output folders are different, so.. it's not that.

Thanks in advance for you help in this matter. :)

I downloaded Vob blacker then i used shrink and decryptor and have successfully made a backup copy of resident evil apocalypse. it was real simple and all the menus work just fine.

Did you get the error message above that I got??

I followed the instructions that others have listed in this thread using VOB Blanker, but I get that error.

    What am I doing wrong?
