I downloaded dvd shrink and get an error when I try to open the file (movie) I want to shrink or cut..
    Which ever is easier.
I can put on 2 disk if I know how to cut in half..

Play the movie that is giving you trouble a few seconds with your software player, then stop it and reopen Shrink and see if it works then. You sometimes have to play the movie a little to unlock the drive for Shrink to work. Be advised that there is a new type encryption just out the last couple of months that Shrink can't decrypt. You will then need DVD Decrypter or AnyDVD to decrypt these new movies. You need to download the newest version of either one to work. Good luck.

Sorry, just re-read your post. You already have the movie on your HD. My mistake.

are you opening the files with the large graphical "open files" icon?or with the small "file" text on the top left hand of screen.
