rs232 cable

I have a kyrptview box brand new. got a rs232cable with it.. connected it to box and to pc dell pentium 4 on windows xp via usb adaptor. Cant get box to load.. serial port problem or something. anybody know what I doing wrong.

It is a problem with the ports associated with your USB socket.
