    I've been looking around and have found nothing that will burn this type of protection. I want to make a backup of Prince of persia ww, and scanned with PiD 5.0 final C, and it returns
    Scanning -> G:\POP2.EXE
    File Type : Exe, Size : 7201266 (06DE1F2h) Bytes
    -> File has 1634802 (018F1F2h) bytes of appended data starting at offset 054F000h
    [!] Safedisc 4.00.001 detected !
    [!] Possible CD/DVD-Check String -> Insert CD
    - Scan Took : 4.78 Seconds

    nothing i've seen or looked for has safedisc 4 support? would safedisc 2/3 work?

    ok researched this a bit more and found this site, http://club.cdfreaks.com/showthread.php?t=116157&page=2&pp=25

    Ok I think I have it working now, I'll post later on tonight with details if it worked. virtual clone drive worked with alcohol 120%

    Not too many burners on the market that can make a true 1:1 backup of Safedisc 4.0 Post he brand name of your burner and I can tell you whether you can make a 1:1 backup that will play in a cd/dvd-rom. If you backup pc protected games on a routine basis and your burner can't make a 1:1 backup of Safedisc 4.0, then I highly recommend the Plextor Premium(52\32\52x) or the Plextor PX-712A/SA dvd burner. The other alternative is a NO CD patch.....

    My drive comes up as _NEC DVD_RW ND-3520A, I successfully got it to emulate with alcohol 120%'s virtual drive. I've read that it searches the registry and can find clonecd's settings and won't work. When I went to go burn the cd it burns successfully but prompts for original cdrom when trying to play.

    The NEC 3500C dvd burner is a great burner :) I'm just wondering if your NEC can provide superior cd/dvd r quality writes as the Plexy PX-712/716 with good media such as Taiyo Yuden or Verbatim. :)Maybe you can do some disc quality scans and send them to me sometime? I easily backed Safedisk 4.0 using CloneCD& FireBurner :)

    how do you go about burning the image to the dvd, because I have the image sitting on my computer right now running perfect on alcohol's virtual drive, I burned to dvd-r and prompted me for original cdrom. Maybe there is something i'm missing in the settings somewhere when I go to burn them? I prefer to use alcohol 120% because thats the only thing I currently have installed.

    CloneCD didn't work for me it just have a bunch of disk read errors and made the image in about 30 seconds and it was unusable. What version of CloneCD are you using?

    I made no mention of a dvd image(dvd version). They don't sell dvd rom verions of pc games in my hometown. You will always encounter disc read errors when reading any image that is Safedisc cd protected but this is common. If you look at your Alcohol 120% log, you will see disc read errors reading Safedisc cd/dvd protection. On the cd rom version you encounter read errors in the 1st 1-10,500 sectors of the original cd. DVD version, I simply don't know as "it might be the same". I used CloneCD 5.2.5.1 to read the cd rom edition of The Sims 2 University(Safedisc 4.0) and burned using FireBurner 2.21. Backup plays flawlessly in my Litey DVD-ROM. :)
    Did you try your backup in a dvd-rom?

    yea CloneCD always worked perfect for cd-r backups but won't work for dvd-r because I tryed. Alcohol 120% did give disc read errors, but my problem is running the game from a burned dvd-r it simply won't work for me.

    I guess what i'm trying to say is there something I can enable for that ATIP to be hidden on my dvd burner, because I don't have a dvd-rom.

    Well keep in mind dvd burners can't write in RAO DAO mode on a dvd write. I honestly don't know if a dvd burner can make a 1:1 backup of Safedisc 4.0 dvd protection because I have yet to test. There "might" be a work around but until they sell pc dvd-rom games in my hometown, it would be unfair for me to say what and what not will work.
