I just bought a 1TB samsung HD103SI hard drive and it isn't showing up under computer in Windows 7. It does show up in BIOS and in the device manager. When I first installed it Windows did a plug and play install. I have updated the drivers and it still isn't showing up. My old aux hard drive shows up (Seagate barracuda 7200-10). Is it a compatibility issue or am I missing something?

You haven't formatted it yet. Go to disk management and format it (quick format, NTFS). Job done.

I did the long format, but you are correct, that was my problem. It really should have come with instructions but a little googling and I found the solution.

If anybody comes across this thread and wants an explanation

Since it was brand new there was no reason to do a long format. If data had been written to it then id say otherwise.
