If the yellow tint exists even on the "check signal cable" there's probably something wrong with the internals, so you'll have to have it replaced or repaired.

Yes, sorry I can't help more. I'd recommend replacing it with a 226BW monitor if possible, they're superb.

To take advantage of the 226BW, he is going to have to dump the video chip and go the PCI-E route, with a new video card with DVI output.

    That computer has a PCI-E x 16 slot.

Aside: The 245BW that I have has surpassed my expectations. It is a rare occasion when I see that happen to me. :)

Well, under normal circumstances I would think it's to do with the equipment connected to it (even perhaps the VGA cable, check this first) but you say if you unplug the cable, the "check signal cable" box also has the yellow tint? It's that fact that I based my diagnosis on. Those boxes should never be miscoloured.

Ah, so what you're saying is the yellow tint is only there when you're in PC mode AND the cable to the PC is connected?

Have you tried a different cable? one of the connectors may be damaged in the one you're using right now. You can get a yellow tint if the connector on the cable isn't securely attached, so one of the pins could also be loose.

Nope, since VGA is Analog, if the cable is damaged it will provide a wrong picture, not no picture at all.
