    Hey guys,
    I'm kinda stuck...I just got my sansa e270 and tried to convert videos from Google video (.mpeg4) and transfer them to my device. However, when I try and play it on the Sansa a short clip of the music plays with no picture, and then cuts out. Any idea what could be wrong? If you know a way to put Google videos on the player please tell. Thanks.

    I don't think google video is .mp4 . The ones I have saved are a .gvi format. The sansa is most compatible with .mov files although I have been able to format clips of almost any type. Enjoy....

    Sorry...I'm not exactly an expert on this:) Anyways, when I download from Google, should I choose "Windows/Mac" or "Ipod/Psp"? Unfortunately, the file I download from either one doesn't seem to work. This is just a nice feature that I'd like to be able to use, so no pressure.

    Hey, I recently bought a Sansa, exicited you could put videos on it. I want to put a movie on (actaully it's an episode of a TV show) buyt on the DVD it's in VOD format, which doesn't work in SMC. How, step by step and using what programs, can I put in on my Sansa? (I'm not that good with computers).

    Will someone please tell me why my Sansa e200 program converter will not pick up my mp3's? It will not let me into my songs at all through the program so I can convert them. It will show the file, but will not show the list of songs. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks ahead.

    Yeah, sorry I figured that out last night. It's only for video and pictures. I went through rhapsody and through the folder where my music is at. Neither one will work. Some will copy over to the Sansa, but some want. Do you know why some will and some want? They are the same formats (wma), except for a few mp3's and they did the same thing.

    hey techstar
    the sansa converter software is for video not music/mp3
    if your using wmp10 to rip your music either drag and drop the music files from whatever folder you save your tunes too on your comp
    (ie "my music") and drop onto the sansa
    or you can have wmp sync/load for you
    good luck

    Hey All, I had a lot of trouble with the video conversion for the Sansa e250 but finally figured it out and signed up for Afterdawn just to post this. Anyway, like a lot of people on here I had a problem loading large video files without them breaking up into annoying ten minute clips. I finally figured out how to do it:

    First download the Firmware updater from here: http://www.sandisk.com/Retail/Default.aspx?CatID=1376
    run it and install. YOU HAVE TO DO THIS. The rest of this guide will not work if you don't.

    Next open the file SanDisk_E200_MSC.apr with notepad. It's located in C:/Program Files/SanDisk/Sansa Media Converter/Profiles
    edit ONLY the bold numbers to look like this:

    [DEVICE]
    HID=VID_0781&PID_7421
    PhotoFolder=Photo
    AudioFolder=Audio
    VideoFolder=Video
    DeviceIcon=hcata_e200
    EnableAlbum=1
    DefaultAlbum=My Album

    [TRANSCODE]
    FilenameLength=1000
    FilenameExclude=
    FilenameRenameCap=
    UniqueFilename=0
    PromptCompatible=0
    CheckPhotoCompatible=1
    CheckAudioCompatible=1
    CheckVideoCompatible=1
    UseArcAviWriter=0
    ArcAviWriterMode=2
    ArcAviWriterModeDesc=AVI_TIME(0),AVI_SAMPLE(1),AVI_CONTROL(2)
    SplitTime=600

    [OUTPUT_FORMAT]
    PhotoFmts=Jpeg File(JPG),Bitmap File(BMP)
    DefPhotoFmt=JPG
    PhotoSaveMode=BMP(2),JPG(4)
    AudioFmts=Mp3 File(MP3)
    DefAudioFmt=MP3
    VideoFmts=Motion JPEG B(MOV)
    DefVideoFmt=MOV
    VideoSaveMode=AVI(256),MPG(257),WMV(258),MOV(259),ASF(261)

    [OPTIMIZE]
    PhotoFmt=BMP
    PhotoSize=176x220
    PhotoQuality=100
    AudioFmt=
    AudioBits=
    AudioSmpBits=
    AudioChnl=
    VideoFmt=MOV
    Resolution=160x208
    VideoEncoder=MotionJPEGB Codec
    AudioEncoder=16-bit big endian
    VideoBitrate=o
    AudioBitrate=
    AudioSmplrate=11025
    VideoFps=15.00
    RotateDegree=270

    [BMP]
    FileExtName=BMP
    SaveMode=2
    Resolutions=320x240,640x480,720x480,800x600,1024x768
    DefResolution=640x480

    [MOV]
    FileExtName=MOV
    SaveMode=259
    VideoEncodes=MotionJPEGB Codec
    DefaultVideoEncode=MotionJPEGB Codec
    AudioEncodes=UnCompressed,16-bit big endian,16-bit little endian,32-bit floating point,64-bit floating point,24-bit integer,32-bit integer,MACE 3:1,MACE 6:1,IMA 4:1,.Law 2:1,aLaw 2:1
    DefaultAudioEncoder=24-bit integer
    Fps=15.00,20.00,24.00,25.00,29.97
    DefaultFps=15.00
    AudioBitrate=
    DefaultAudioBitrate=
    VideoBitrate=Lossless Quality(100),Max Quality(100),High Quality(75),Normal Quality(50),Low Quality(25),Min Quality(0)
    DefaultVideoBitrate=0
    AudioSmplrate=
    DefaultAudioSmplrate=44100
    Resolutions=208x160
    DefaultResolution=208x160

    The bold numbers are the ONLY ones you should adjust. Split time affects (obviously) at what amount of time the video is split.
    The other two affect video quality and therefore file size. I personally have mine set at SplitTime=7200 (2hr. cut off) Videobitrate=35 (half of original) and DefaultVideoBitrate=2 (also half of original).

    Next open the file SanDisk_E200_MTP.apr with notead. It is located in the same directory. Adjust the parameters to match those of the last file.

    Finally restart SMC and run as normal! I hope this helps some people. Thanks to sracer and vidiot250.

    Hello :)

    I managed to get a conversion of a video.

    Issue.

    The DivX file is 700MB (approx).

    The MOV file for the Sansa is 636MB (approx).

    If I went from an ASPECT ratio of ... 720x304 ... and the SMC changed it to a 160x208, should the file size not be a BIT SMALLER?!

    Please educate me :)

    I'm trying to modify the video split time on my e250r. Unfortunately the file that keeps getting mentioned on here doesn't exist on my hard drive. I do have a "C:\ProgramFiles\SanDisk" directory, but I have no "Profiles" folder in here or any ".apr" files located anywhere in the SanDisk folder. Anyone have any idea where this "SanDisk_E200_MSC.apr" file would exist then?

    Ok I figured out that you have to modify the DeviceConfig.xml to get the video file to not split into parts. My next problem is that when I tried to watch the movie on my e250r, the video lagged slightly behind the audio, but when I opened the movie file from that is on the e250r on my laptop, it played just fine. does anyone know how to fix the problem of the lagging video?
