I had the 2-4 second audio gap too, until I updated the firmware. Not it's perfect - except for the fact they only play .MOV files....
BTW - The above settings for the .APR files work great. Cut file sizes down in half and you don't notice the quality loss. Now if only they would out a firmware update to allow .AVI and .MPG files - without conversion.
hey everybody i was wondering if sombody could help me out buy giving me a link for the media converter because i lost mine or em ail it to me @ brett123123@hotmail.com
i was considering the sansa 8gb untill i read that movies and pictures had to be converted, how long does it take to do the conversions and is it a big hassle? should i buy an ipod video instead =(
1 --- I changed FILES as said and it still breaks up the video clip in to pieces 2 --- The video files are still massive
hi!...i also have this problem. so far i have visited a lot of forums but there seems to be no one answering to this question... =(
yea, i don't know why no one has figured this out yet. i have a feeling it has to do with memory and how much it can handle open at one time. if you notice, when it opens a video file of movie length and size, it takes a little longer to start than when opening a smaller video. I have a feeling it's storing it all in some sort of temporary memory that the player also uses to run it's basic functions, and because most of the memory is now taken up by a large video file being played, it is lagging similar to a computer from the early 90's would lag if you are doing too much on it at once and using all it's available temporary memory. i didn't develop this product though, so don't take my word on it. if you happen to find anything on how to fix this problem let me know.
Hello guys. I just bought the Sansa player the other day. Uploading music is fine, but when I try to convert movies in the converter, I get the message "player was not found" or something to that extent. Does anyone know how to fix this problem?
What is the file size of your movie on the Sansa? I have taken a 2hr15min movie which was a 715MB AVI, ran it through the SMC and it stored it at 686MB or so on the player?! What gives? Why is the file size so big?!
Can I compress a movie to .avi format using CloneMobileDvd and then use SMC to transfer it to the sansa e250
When I first got my Sandisk Sansa e250 I had no problems what so ever transferring videos. Then, one day the videos I had one it erased themselves, and since then ever single video I try to add to it doesn't work. It converts to 100% than says that it failed to transfer to device. I have tried everything. Asked on every site I could find, but no one seems to know what's wrong with it or how to fix it. Please, if anyone knows anything about what's wrong with it please post. I don't know what else to do.
hey vomit, can i use any other software, such as cloneMobile to compress the movies. I know you have to use SMC to upload the movie
I'm by no means an expert at video conversion or the sansa e200 series but i will try to troubleshoot with you folks the best I can: rmustang: I would guess that the problem is occuring when you convert the file. Try not to run any other applications or interrupt the program during the process and see what happens. mcfz: The reason you are getting such large files is because SMC converts all files to MOV or Quicktime. The QuickTime format is an extremely inefficient antiquated format, compared to new formats today. Any file you convert will range from either slightly less to slightly more and be of a worse quality than the original. Anyway, you could lower the framerate to decrease size or try compressing the file with another program. I havn't tried the latter option but it should work. Those are the only suggestions I have right now. As for your movies breaking up, did you change BOTH files? Make sure. I had the same problem when I first embarked on this process. jp1216: You can scroll through a movie by holding down the forward arrow button on the right side of the scroll wheel. It's not very fast and I find it's very easy to accidentally hit it twice and skip the entire movie alltogether but it's the only option available for fast forwarding. eharley1: Once again, I'm not certain on this but you should be able to compress any file you want before converting it as long as the compressed output is a file type recognized by SMC. i.e. Windows AVI, MPEG, Video CD (.DAT), Advance Systems Format (.ASF), DVD (.VOB), QuickTime (.MOV), and MPEG-4 (.MP4). Thumpette: I've looked through a lot of web pages trying to fid an answer to your question but I've had no luck. You said you've updated the firmware. Are you having transfer problems with audio files? Is the sansa being recognized in MTP and MSC modes? Have you tried reinstallig SMC? Try these things out and let's see if we can isolate the problem.
Thanks vomitscab for trying to help me. Not a lot of people do that, but just last night I fixed my problem. All I had to do was switch over to MTP mode and now it works fine. I feel really dumb for not figuring that out for long, but I am not very good at stuff like that. I barely know how to operate a computer. Thanks!
To get a video that is over 10 mins long you have to close most active programs and keep trying. You try to convert it the first time and it might not work but it will definately work the second or third time. It is a glitch in the software.
